The Chained Court
“The Chained Court” is a courtroom room that is comprised of three rooms. The first room is the reception. This is where people wait for their trials. Part of this means that the waiting room chairs all are made of metal, and are built into the foundation of the building. Each chair comes with chains and locks, just in case of violent criminals. However, if you are just waiting for your friend, these murder-house chairs are the only place to sit, so people tend to stand.
The second room is the courtroom itself. There are about 4 rows of pews on each side, which were taken from the ruins of what was once a church on the other side of town. There are still religious texts hidden in some of the cubbies on the backs of the pews. In the back of the room is a raised pedestal. This is where the judge stands. To the right of the pedestal is another few chained up chairs. Some of them have some dried blood on them from the last trial.
The third room is a library of sorts. It lets lawyers around town use the space, and it also stores the town’s legal documents, of which there aren’t many. The books are stored in 5 massive bookshelves lined up in rows, with a study table in front of each. The books are attached to the shelves with chains and are not meant to be taken from this room. The caretaker of the books sleeps in the corner of the room on a straw mat. She can’t stand to be too far from her beloved books, so she just moved in one day. No one said anything to her about it, so she stayed.
