Glitterfjell
Glitterfjell is Thymryu's northern most fiefdom that shares a border with Lenisily. It is the most recent fiefdom to join with Thymryu after being an independent country for more than a hundred years. Before that it was a part of Lenisily before the revolution happened. The majority of it's population live in the city of Flottenheim just east of the Great Skyway. To the west is mostly wilderness with a couple of frost giant settlements.
Geography
Glitterfjell is a cold mountainous region with Flottenheim and the Vallee beneath it being some of the only livable places. This give's Flottenheim an advantage with it's natural mountain defenses. It is nearly always snowing and the temperatures can get dangerously low. In the wild mountains and tundra's to the west it is rumored to get as low as negative fifty degrees. It is one of the larger fiefdoms of Thymryu second only to Sethrekar.
Ecosystem
Flottenheim's greatest strength is their fascinating abilities to grow and maintain crops in the harsh environment of snowy, freezing mountains. Using magic they have perfected mini ecosystems throughout the city and into the Vallee. Inside the mountain, they have even been able to grow food and raise animals in a completely stone structure. Their mastery of this technique is sought out by many but only Glitterfjellians have been able to perfect it. The other fiefdoms have been granted farms in their own fiefdoms to be maintained by Glitterfjellians, this is especially popular and beneficial to Sivania because of their desert location. The crops also manifest themselves in a way so that they are always yielding crops.
Localized Phenomena
Occasionally strong blizzards will roar through the fiefdom and incur a lockdown if the weather conditions are too dangerous. Luckily almost every home has some way of leading into the mountain where they can enjoy limitless crops and sunshine spots. Those that don't are well stocked and have a bunker type system that will lead into the side of the mountain or underground. These defenses would also be successful in the event of an attack.
Natural Resources
Their farming abilities, some specific metals and stones from the mountains, hunting certain game, sell and trade a lot of furs that you can only find from certain beasts in the mountains, they have many artisan craftworkers, elven armory and specialty blacksmithing, lots of magical items and enchanters.
History
A hundred and fifty years ago Glittefjell was a state of Lenisily. Lenisily has a history of being especially cruel to their people allowing their citizens to starve, be enslaved and raped. It is also a very unsafe place for people who aren't high elves, as they tend to be particularly racist. They also cling to their national religion as a way to control the working/lower classes. Staladin was a powerful warlock who was king of the country when Flottenheim's citizens decided to revolt. The Lord who ruled over Glitterfjell at the time was Malenthot. Malenthot was a spineless coward who ended up fleeing into the mountains a year into the revolution, making Baegla and her warriors successful. Staladin was never able to send in enough back up do the the dangerous mountains and difficult terrain. A few of his soldiers even turned on Lenisily and joined the revolution once they got into Glitterfjell. After the revolution Baegla became the premier of Glitterfjell and they became an independent nation. They immediately started implementing socialist reform with the goal that every one of their citizens deserved food, shelter, medical care, and an education in order to be a successful nation. They then perfected the greenhouse magic and the abilities to create crops year round, despite the difficult terrain. Eventually they became a thriving society. Twenty eight years ago they decided to join Thymryu because of the growing threat from Lenisily and the goal of sharing their wealth and prosperity with other nations. While this is still a move that some in Flottenheim do not particularly like, it is generally regarded as the right choice. Baegla became the Lord of Glitterfjell when they joined Thymryu and as she has grown in age she has chosen her successor to be Duke Fenneck Frostears, a high elf ranger who fought alongside her in the revolution and is well-known and loved throughout the fiefdom. This choice was met with happiness among the people. While Baegla is currently their Lord by title, Fenneck has taken up much of the responsibilities at this point so that Baegla can enjoy her last few years in peace.
Tourism
The Winter's Eve Festival sometimes draws in curious travelers from Thymryu because of the mysterious magical ceremony that takes place throughout the city. They celebrate the coming ceremony for weeks before with decorations and certain familial traditions. There are normally many concerts and special events that happen around this time as well. On December 24, everyone gathers together in the amphitheater layer of the mountain where they sing songs together and jointly summon magic into the mountain. This magical energy give's the plants and beings in the mountain a rejuvenated spirit and a feeling of re-growth. Wounds are healed, pain goes away, flowers bloom, and everyone there who experiences this leaves feeling a close connection to every else who experiences it. After the festival people spend time with their loved ones and close families during the peak of the winter months and try to avoid travel and dangerous ventures too far from the safety of Flottenheim. Other than the Winter's Eve Festival, Baegla is know to throw lavish parties in the palace nearly every weekend and they are always open to the public and anyone who would like to join in the festivities. Tourist who come to Flottenheim often leave mistified over the strange customs and openness of the fiefdom.
