snow-capped peaks, snow valleys, and an expansive pine forests fill the area. A network of icy rivers and lakes flow through the mountain fields. Its relatively high altitude results into a thin athmosphere. Many portions of the region are blanketted by snow, often maintaining freezing temparatures.
Climate
The region experiences a harsh,
cold climate with freezing winters and cool summers. Heavy snowfall blankets the region for most of the year, creating a winter wonderland. Chilly winds sweep through the mountain passes, adding more to the already icy air. Summer brings a short relief from the cold, with its reasonable temperatures allowing for various plant life to thrive. Snowstorms can be quite common in the area, especially during the winter.
Ecosystem
The lower elevations are covered in
dense pine forests, their branches full of snow. These forests are home to various wildlife, including
snow hares, foxes, and mountain goats. Beneath the icy lakes and rivers, aquatic life thrives off the frigid temperatures. Many animals make use of features such as thick fur and fat reserves to survive the winter. Only the resilient are able to survive the bitterly cold peaks of the mountains.
