Geography
Mirkwood is a
dense forest with towering and overgrown trees with massive roots that lock itself onto the earth. Their branches and leaves form a natural umbrella, allowing sunlight to filter through in gentle beams, creating an interesting play of light and shadows. The trees, with expansive branches and thick trunks, create a maze-like network of paths and clearings. Moss covers their giant roots, and small ponds can be found and used as a water supply.
Climate
The forest experiences a
calm and temperate climate, with a consistent cool breeze, coming from the
Frostlands that rustle through the leaves. It contains a perfect balance of warmth and coolness which sustains the wildlife. The dense trees provide natural shade from the gentle rain showers that contribute to the lushness of the forest.
Ecosystem
The forest offers a diverse ecosystem, with ancient trees providing shelter to countless creatures, from small insects to majestic winged beasts.
Fireflies and glowing butterflies are a common sight, lighting dark areas. The air is filled with the sweet scent of blossoms and the calming hum of bird chirps.
Deer, rabbits, and monkeys find ways to survive against the
wolves, bears, and hyenas of the forest.
