OttL Session 27.5: RP Roundup in Duncat
General Summary
Minor Events
- Thaiva Phenol catches up with Caerbor Klaedris, even going so far as to describe her confrontation with their father Alibor Klaedris and Hinfyire Soriel's involvement with Lolth (formally Vecna). Caerbor is jealous of the adventure, so Thaiva Phenol invites him to come along
- The Pack is being asked to help patrol the borders of Esma to contain the Moon Plague
- Memento Vitae catches up with Memento Ipsum.
- The Pack has been getting Bath Potions from Memento Caritate in Polaris. Natsu buys 10 from Kiri, who voluntarily gives an extra five for a total of 15.
- Natsu and Hobbs gradually announce their marriage to Amadeus, Caerbor Klaedris, Memento Ipsum, Kiri, and Nihilo.
- Natsu tells Amadeus and Memento Ipsum they can stay at her home in Shippo for a while if they wish
- Caerbor Klaedris confirms Lenora is dead, having been ambushed by drow.
- Natsu talks about her history with Faren in more detail. He was her personal guard for 60 years while she was locked up in Elder Arrius' basement.
- Hobbs cleans some dirt
- Amadeus says he would worship Natsu if she were to become a goddess
- The Pack is still negotiating with Penguin through Kiri for control of Duncat.
- Apparently someone in Sigil wants to worship somebody with big boobs and was referred to Natsu.
Himitsugami Comes Out to Play
- Memento Ipsum urges Natsu to let her Moon Plague soul come out for a little while, so the two can continue to get along. She nervously agrees
- Ipsum's plague soul (Lily) talks to Natsu's plague soul (Himitsugami) for a while, discussing what it was like to share bodies with their other halves, and the responsibilities they have
- Himitsugami decides to go for a walk. Lily encourages her to take a trail west of Duncat that goes into Luna Woods, but specifically warns her to stay away from the wisps. Himi immediately departs to follow the wisps
- The wisps lead Himi straight to a camp of sleeping drow with a lethargic guard. It would be easy to ambush them, but Natsu reasserts herself just in time to prevent violence. On the way back, Natsu and Himi argue about Himi's suicidal tendencies.
- Upon return, Ipsum admits that Lily knew about the drow camp and where they were, and intentionally provoked Himi into going.
- Amadeus encourages the party to leave the hunters alone, saying that Haru already plans to take care of them if need be. They do not seem to take the hunters as a serious threat.
- Caerbor Klaedris tells lots of bad jokes. He also tries to get Hobbs to spar, but is turned down.
- Memento Vitae talks with Kiri about the Training Games
- Memento Vitae talks with Femtid. The two now share a room in order to make room for Caerbor Klaedris.
- Natsu isn't sure she could kill Faren. Despite his disturbingly obsessive nature, the man really does seem to mean well, and spent a lot of time protecting Natsu. He even helped her escape Shippo.
- Memento Ipsum preaches to Natsu and Ignacio Icarsus about Olidammara. Natsu is interested in asking him for advice sometime, and it seems "Ollie" would like a poker rematch, too.
Nihilo translates Natsu's note
- The language, dubbed Astral Creole, was spoken by Feathren, a race that disappeared in The Age of Sacrifice only to reappear only recently in the Astral Sea.
- It reads:
This is a test. I still remember our deal. If you do too, then burn this and come find me. You should know how to get in touch.
- After much debate, Natsu and Himi decide not to burn the note
Amadeus Confesses to Murder
- Natsu asks Amadeus about the Sinking of the Sedna. He says it was attacked by tritons with military training.
- Natsu asks Amadeus if he wanted Hobbs dead. He dodges the question at first, so she takes him to a private room where he voluntarily chains himself up for a deeper conversation.
- Amadeus originally dodges the question, saying he does not have anything against Hobbs. Hobbs seemed to be running from something, and he never pried into details.
- As Natsu pushes harder, Amadeus' plague soul "Khan" takes complete control of the body in order to confess to the crime:
- Natsu wants to be angry, but can't really stay such. Instead, she forgives him for trying to protect his family. Amadeus is extremely grateful and somewhat confused.
- Amadeus suggests trying to figure out what was supposed to be in the crate, and what he was running away from.
- Natsu returns to the tavern without Amadeus in tow, since he is still recovering from the stress. A complicated door routine ensues, in which Memento Ipsum and at Kiri both take turns leaving the room at separate times to check on things while the other stands guard. Memento Ipsum is very tense during this time, throwing constant dirty looks at Natsu, but eventually settles down
- Natsu and Amadeus both tell Memento Ipsum that they were discussing Amadeus' plans to propose to Memento Ipsum. Memento Ipsum doesn't quite believe this, but doesn't pry too deeply into the truth of the matter.
Natsu Teaches Ipsum about Tarot
- Memento Ipsum is curious about fortune telling, so Natsu teaches her about tarot cards. They do a few readings:
- Natsu wants to know about her visit to the feywild and draws the Reversed Death card. It represents "fear of change, holding on, stagnation, decay"
- Memento Ipsum asks the deck about the Moon Plague and draws reversed Lovers. This represents "loss of balance, one-sidedness, disharmony"
- Natsu wants to know about her wedding, and has Memento Ipsum draw a card for her. The result is the upright Empress, which represents "Creativity, beauty, abundance, nature, and fertility". The card itself depicts a goddess of fertility, so the meaning behind this reading is very vague. Natsu is very flustered.
