Lower Realms
The Lower Realms of the Cosmos of Subsolem Septem are those located on the Secondary World Disk.
Metaphysically these Realms relate to the base urges, feelings and emotions of the sapient beings of the Prime World Disk and debatably also that of the hypothesized consciousness of the World Skull itself and their ecosystems are based chiefly on the constant radiating influx of emotive energy which emanates from the Prime World Disk.
At the center of the Lower Realms like a single spire of black marble that is yet made up of an entire city worth of rising buildings, walls, bridges and towers lies the City of Judgement that all deceased souls of the sapient beings of the Prime World Disk are meant to enter to be judged. An endless procession of shroudlike souls flows into the city and into the countless courts of eternal justice and then from there to the Afterlives. Separated from the City of Judgement by a wide chasm that is crossed by four bridges at the four cardinal directions lie countless Realms, each stranger and more horrific than the former.
Eternally shadowcast and lush jungles with trees that first look much like some found on the Prime World Disk but then gradually become more fleshlike and flush with blood the longer ones’ horrified gaze grazes them as well as the endless deserts of burning-freezing nothingness perpetually cast in blinding white light known as Lymbaugh and the insidiously industrialized Thirteen-point-one-two-seven-nine Hells which surround the City of Judgement like satellites are only a few of these Realms with many of those with a more-or-less solidified time-space-reality being considered the domains of the Princes of Hell while everything outside of that slightly less mind-breakingly strange and unreal yet still horrible appearing space is called the Weirdwyld.
The inhabitants of the Lower Realms, save for the Lymbaugh which is inhabited by restless ghosts and aching spectres, are usually referred to as Infernal Outsiders on the Prime World Disk. As the rest of the life which exists on the Secondary World Disk the intelligent beings which dwell here feed and grow off the emotional radiation caused by the sapient beings of the Prime World Disk.
As such they are uniquely obsessed with them.
Societally Infernal Outsiders are broadly separated into the lawful and ultimately ordered Devils which serve the hierarchies ruled by the Princes of Hell and primarily derive nutrition, satisfaction and power from sapient beings who unhealthily attempt to control their base urges, needs, desires and emotions and the chaotic and disorderly Demons which are not welcome within the fortified walls of solid reality of the Thirteen-point-one-two-seven-nine Hells and therefore spend their existence in the constantly warping Weirdwyld.
Demons, like Devils gain power, satisfaction and nutrition from emotional energy of sapient beings but are primarily interested in causing them to unhealthily overindulge as well as lose themselves in pursuit of their darkest urges.
Both Demons and Devils are at times summoned by the people of the Prime World Disk in a great many different cultural contexts but most often with the intention of petitioning the Outsider to offer power, assistance or some other gain in return for something else, most often the soul of the petitioner. As all ecosystems of the Lower Realms are based on emotional energy much like the Prime World Disk’s are based on kinetic and potential energy a sapient being’s soul, bound for eternity, is akin to a livestock animal that generates constant resources as long as one tortures it (which both Devils and Demons enjoy greatly regardless of potential gain).
Despite the dangers many summoners of Infernal Outsiders believe themselves capable of striking a deal thats ultimately beneficial to them at little cost, the uncounted armies of eternally shrieking sapient souls found in the palaces and great halls of the Thirteen-point-one-two-seven-nine Hells may be inclined to disagree but who is to listen to them.
The domains of the Princes of Hell include Infernal counterparts to most biomes found on the Prime World Disk each with its own ecology made up of horrific fauna and flora the likes of which the people of the Prime World Disk couldn’t dream up in their worst nightmares. Outside of that, in the Weirdwyld, things get much worse.
The Weirdwyld is, put very simply, a constantly morphing and warping screaming and screeching weblike maze of places, times, anti-places and anti-times which exist, don’t exist, may one day exist or may one day have existed, either one, multiple of these, all at once or none at all, in all their mortifying beauty, depravity and horror constantly pulled downward into the swirling Abyss that lies below all.
Like soup spilling over the edges of a bowl the chaotic endlessness of the Weirdwyld departs off the edges of the domains of the Princes of Hell and flows everly onward into nothingness, though not without separating from itself and coming back up then down again a couple million times.
