The Shadowed Vale

Once upon a time known as Barovia, the Shadowed Vale includes the territory east of the Rubygold Mountains and south of the ruined Dragon Kingdom. It used to be ruled by House Dracula from the Shadow Citadel, but now Koko rules from Castle Ravenloft.

Government based on Election

Under the reign of Koko, the Shadowed Vale joined the Alliance. Alliance leaders are elected every four years by those within their holds, and keep the term of king or queen as a way to acknowledge the monarchist history of their nations. Each hold has been reformed to keep up to a forward-thinking and lawful standard, putting the good of the littlest people first, and squashing out injustice and prejudice. Each hold has a king or queen. In each hold, the ruler has a thane and a high septon. The thane is in charge of military command and the high septon advises the ruler on diplomatic relations. Beneath the thane and high septon, there is a Council of Eight- each holding an important role in the hold's government. In the Shadowed Vale, the Council of Eight meets at Castle Ravenloft.

Kings and Queens

The Shadowed Vale, since joining the Alliance, still uses the title of king for its leader. Below are the elected kings and queens of the Shadowed Vale, and how long they served.

Koko von Zarovich I (8009-Present)

Koko was elected king of the Shadowed Vale after his heroic efforts to overthrow the Ordayn Crime Syndicate. His high septon is the weaveghost Anastra Silverhand.
