Alcyrians

The Alcyrians, who now thrive in the new world of Glosmordin, are a people deeply shaped by their origins and the extraordinary circumstances of their arrival. Composed initially of six distinct tribes—Sebastites, Xanthians, Apolonians, Yusuf, ShaoYan, and Canem—they were united under the leadership of Mirtlif, a powerful wizard whose quest for the God of Magic inadvertently led them to this world.   Mirtlif’s journey was one of mystery and prophecy. In Alcyria, he sought proof of a God of Magic that was whispered about but never fully confirmed. Guided by signs and ancient texts, Mirtlif and his followers embarked on a voyage that took them through a portal, transporting them to Glosmordin. Here, unlike in Alcyria, a true God of Magic exists, revealing that Mirtlif’s search had been leading him to this world all along.   Upon their arrival, Mirtlif quickly formed a close alliance with the Empress of Veropia, a small nation that barely existed at the time within Glosmordin. At the time, Veropia was a society where magic had been largely forgotten or hidden from humans by the Erlin, an Elven race in this world. Mirtlif’s profound knowledge of magic and his ability to harness its power played a pivotal role in rebuilding the city of Veropia to its former glory. This act of restoration solidified a special bond between the Alcyrians and the Veropians, granting the Alcyrians a unique position within the Veropian Empire.   The Alcyrians are now recognized as a state within the empire, enjoying significant autonomy and privileges. However, their status as a minority within Veropia brings its own challenges. Their influence and autonomy often incite jealousy and resentment among others, forcing the Alcyrians to navigate these power dynamics carefully.   Religiously, the Alcyrians have undergone a significant transformation. With many of the original settlers not well-versed in their customs, they adapted to the new world by merging their deities with those of Glosmordin. This blending of old and new beliefs led to the creation of cults that align the gods of Alcyria with those of Glosmordin. While they may still refer to their deities by the old names, the Alcyrians have largely integrated these gods into the local pantheon. The Order of the Sacred Swords of the Blessed, for example, still honors Balaria but is often called Kona, one of the local deities.  Craylos, the order’s founder in Alcyria, is now being worshipped as a god by some of its orders.   Over the seventy years since their arrival, the Alcyrians have evolved from a collection of distinct tribes into a more unified people. While they originally identified strongly with their individual tribes—Sebastites, Xanthians, Apolonians, Yusuf, ShaoYan, and Canem—the shared experience of life in this new world has brought them closer together. They now simply call themselves Alcyrians, reflecting a collective identity that transcends their tribal origins. Although they continue to honor the customs and traditions of their ancestral tribes, these practices have been woven into the larger fabric of Alcyrian society, creating a rich and diverse culture.   Many Alcyrians have adopted family names that trace back to their tribal roots, serving as a nod to their heritage. However, as a whole, they now see themselves as one people, bound together by their shared history and the challenges they have faced in this new land. This shift from a tribal identity to a collective Alcyrian identity is a testament to their adaptability and resilience.   The Alcyrians are a complex people, with their alignments spanning the spectrum from good to evil, reflecting their diverse backgrounds and experiences. Despite this diversity, they tend to lean toward good and neutral alignments, guided by a shared sense of community and purpose. Their psychological state is marked by a lingering sense of isolation, as they continue to see themselves as outsiders in a world filled with unfamiliar races and cultures.   Motivated by the allure of adventure, the Alcyrians are driven to explore Glosmordin, seeking out its riches and striving to make a name for themselves. Their lands, characterized by diverse climates and regions, support a variety of cities—New Alcyria, Mirtopia, Crayopolis, Palinopia, and Baleria—each a testament to their resilience and adaptability.   Important figures in Alcyrian history include Mirtlif the Wise, whose accidental discovery of Glosmordin shaped their destiny, and Craylos, now worshipped as a god, who founded the Order of the Sacred Swords of the Blessed. Rodrick, a leader of the order who was among the first settlers, remains a revered figure within their society.   As they continue to navigate the challenges of their environment, history, and ambitions, the Alcyrians draw strength from their unique position within Veropia, their evolving religious beliefs, and the enduring legacy of their leaders. Their journey in Glosmordin is far from over, and their story continues to unfold in this new and ever-changing world.
