Entessaminia
History
Entessaminia was only granted a city charter towards the end of the late Foundation Age in 1580 AF but the somewhat crude cover illustration comes from a series of coloured woodcut prints produced as early as 965 AF in the middle period of the Foundation Age. This was not long after Kingcardine had been granted a charter, and it demonstrates how even in those days, Entessaminia was a significant port town.
Always closely allied with Kingcardine it was a staunch supporter of the House of Thorns during the time of the Succession Empires
Warfare between Entessaminia and Gantranne brought the age of the Long Northern Peace to a close in 2617 AF at the start of the Role Disputes.
Geography
The city occupies a natural harbour site on the south coast of the island of Hynass Land which itself lies to the south and west of the estuary of the River Portooma. It offers a safe port not far from the mainland of Trass and conveniently close to Kingcardine for trading ships sailing to and from Allport and Equatoria.
Hynass Land has some stunted woodland and enough fertile soil to allow for a belt of farmland that feeds the city. There is enough fresh water in small local streams and rivers to support a sizable population but the island is subject to fierce storms and does not have the same wealth of natural resources that made Kingcardine so much more wealthy at an earlier date.
