Damarel
Damarel is the easternmost town of the Salvae Empire, blanketed under the distant shadows of The Twained Mountain and the Twin-tail Peaks, positioned a few miles west of the convergence of where the Silver Moon Channel and the Floods of Cyrriane become the Emerald Run, the picturesque river that cuts its way through the surrounding countryside and serves as the natural border between the Empire and the Giamela Kingdom, providing sustenance and life to the fertile lands that support the town's military presence. This strategic location of Damarel, is of great importance due to its proximity to the Salvae-Giamela border and is pivotal in trade and military affairs between the two kingdoms.
At the helm of Damarel stands Marquess Solomon Kordev. With a keen focus on military affairs, Marquess Kordev commands a formidable standing army of around twelve thousand soldiers, ensuring the security and protection of the town and its surrounding territories of the East Riverlands. His military ties with Marchioness Diana Fleur, the renowned Shield Maiden of the East, forge a critical alliance that strengthens both their positions and safeguards the borderlands.
Marquess Kordev's sphere of influence stretches far to the west, encompassing not only Damarel but also extending as far as Verdun, southward towards the long-abandoned Boltangate Fort, and directly northward towards the Ocean of Torrose. This expansive reach grants him authority over vital trade routes, resource-rich lands, and key defensive positions.
However, this sphere often overlaps with that of The Shadowlands and Kinxas Saadar, the ruler of the independent Dragonborn city of Rokthorl, resulting in occasional supply and trade tensions between Damarel and Rokthorl as the two rulers have a cool relationship with one another.
Within Damarel, the town thrives as a hub of military commerce strength. Its bustling marketplace bustles with merchants, traders, and travelers from the Empire and Giamela, to move arms and armor. The streets are adorned with vibrant banners, symbolizing unity and prosperity. The sounds of clinking armor and the rhythmic march of soldiers echo through the town, serving as a constant reminder of the military presence that safeguards its borders.
Sturdy stone buildings with fortified walls and towers line the streets, providing a sense of security and resilience. The central citadel, Silverwing Tower, serves as the residence and administrative center of the Marquess and his court.
