Ecosystem
The Duchy of Midwald encompasses part of the area of the Reikland known as the Hägercrybs. A range of heavily forested hills that dominate central Reikland, stretching from the Princedom of Altdorf to the Freistadt of Ubersreik.
This are is rugged that very few roads run through them east to west, a major inconvenience for many travellers. They are mainly used by men for sheep-herding, and many shepherds live throughout the hills. In addition, the nobles of the Hägercrybs regularly attempt to sink mines into the hills. Most fail, but a few strike it rich, bringing great wealth to their owner.
Natural Resources
The Duchies main asset it the forest which covers most of its estate and timbar is a major trading resource.
This activity also clears land for the grazing of sheep and provides a secondary trade in wool, mutton, leather and parchment.
The Duchess of Midwald has a particular interest in the copper which is said to lay beneath the Heavals though as yet she has yet to fully exploit its potential and no roads or mines have been established.
