My new friends and I set out to find that Pact Drake. We decided to follow the creek the whole way so's we'd not run out of water. We took a ferry along the river until we reached the creek. Then went the rest of the way by foot. Our first night camping, we had to fight some skeletons. Luckily, they were no match for us. After a few days we reached Rotrin Castle. I've never been, but I've heard stories about it from Fari. We paid them a silver and they let us stay in the stable for the night. It wasn't fancy, but it gave us a roof over our heads. A snowy owl joined us, and I found myself wishin' I coulda talked to it. I bet that bird has seen some excitin' stuff. Maybe coulda told us what to expect on the road ahead. I woke early the next morning and went out lookin for some grub to keep us fed. I found a wild boar, an' it was enough to keep our bellies happy for two days. Not that Rankle eats much, but the little fella deserves as much as us all the same. Well, we kept on the path along the creek and soon we were waist deep in pure wilderness. Not a soul or building to be seen for miles. Well, waist deep for me. Knee deep for the tall ones, I guess. Poor Rankle woulda been lost in it if he couldn't fly or ride on Arc's hat. Soon we reached a town called Ebbitikkin. We stayed in an inn for five silver a piece. This life is getting mighty pricey and I hope we have enough to survive the trip. Next we went to a town with the funniest name I ever did hear. Pardikkin. Ha! Who names a town after a dick? I love it. Well we didn't stay in dick town, but went straight on to Dissengnikktok. We found a coupla inns there. Arc, Rankle, and Bob wanted to stay in the real cheap place. It looked sketchy to me though so I found a little nicer place to stay. Barg followed my lead and stayed there too. Glad we did cuz Rankle caught a awful bad case of the body lice. Lucky for him, I knew of an herb that could fix 'im right up, so we went to the Herbalist, who as luck could have it, had the herb. I cost him a gold which is more than he woulda spent at the nicer inn. Anyway, we head out again and eventually see a cave in the distance. I'm gettin' real nervous at this point cuz I sure as hell ain't ready to face somethin akin to a dragon. Somehow I muster the courage to follow the others in. Ovanix, or however it's spelled is there sittin' pleased as punch in his cave. Seein' that black drake sure brought back some powerful bad memories. I was so scarred I could hardly move. Arc, or maybe it was Rankle, tells 'im he needs to come with us an' tell the village he was the one that killed Glimmercutter. Well ol' Ovanix says he ain't gonna do that on account a Rankle is a pact breaker. Said the lil guy breaks pacts as a guest, but I've found him to be nothin shorta pleasant as a peach. Anyway, he says mosta uf from Qorin are a bucncha pact breakers. Rude. Then he says if we just leave without him, we're pact breakers too on account of our deal with Mishtehrr Salniran. He says since we're abouta be pact breakers he gonna kill us. Figures. Can't trust a black dragon thing, no matter it's size. Well we all start to fight and outta nowhere another drake shows up. This one's a different kind though and it's not as terrifying. 'For too long, Arc lands the killin' blow on Ovanix. Then Arc and Barg together finish off the other one. Turns out drakes aren't so scary after all. I feel kinda proud that I faced that fear. We start looki' around the place and end up findin' a potion of heroism, 2 sets of elf sized vestments, a coupla bracelets, a lil fancy mirror, a carved wooden box and some money. We ended up with 1 platinum, and 161 sp each, with one platinum and one sp leftover to go into our group fund. Somehow I became our treasurer, which is jus' fine by me. Oh I almost forgot. That creepy Guide voice came back an' said, " When the cycle reaches a certain point, some creatures go insane." Not sure if he meant Ovanix, or if he was warnin' us of somethin' to come. That brings me up to date on our travels. Somehow I feel stronger now. Like I'm more in tune with the world aroun' me. I think it's made me better at fighting, and gave me some confidence. Next time I find myself wishin' I could talk to an owl or sumthin' I might just try it. I decided to take one of Ovanix's teeth as a sorta trophy, an' a reminder that Facin' your fears makes you stronger. I can't wait to tell The Merrymeads all about this. I wonder what Fari would think of my adventures. Hopfully soon I'l get to tell her about 'em. For now, I need some well earned sleep.
