Aala-Leigh Chiron

Liberator of the Shattered

Aala is a beacon of liberation and hope, striving to break the chains of those imprisoned—both literal and metaphorical—and seeking to reunite Aerion with its original dimension.

Origins and Early Life

Aala-Leigh Chiron was born in Daladrin, within the Azuremist. Her parents, both researchers for the Lodge of the Seven, studied arcane and void magic near the Voidwake and the Iridescent Flow. Her childhood and young adult years were well-protected, and once her training was complete, she longed to see the world beyond the Azuremist.   Her travels took her to places like Freecrossing, Lion's Marsh, Gwynfire, and finally Queen's Rise. There, some merchant dwarves told her tales of the Everchanging Forest, whose unique ecosystem they compared to that of the Voidwake. Fascinated, Aala joined their journey back to Ederaa. Caught in a powerful rainstorm, they sought shelter in a forest between Corden and Thornshire, where they shared a campfire with stranded travelers—unbeknownst to them, members of the Sanguine Order with sinister intentions.   After the rain ceased, the Sanguine Order members learned about Aala's background and offered to accompany her to Redwind. But at a crossroads, as the merchants headed north to Aeroch Nor, the Order members seized the opportunity to abduct Aala, taking her to Thornshire.   For weeks and years, Aala's memories became a dark blur. She recalled fragments of her captivity—vague memories of giving birth to a son who was then lost to her, a little boy she never saw again. Weak and barely conscious, Aala suffered as Vorium crystals drained her magic. On the brink of losing her spirit entirely, she was finally dragged out of her cell, tossed onto a cart, and abandoned in a distant forest.   When Aala awoke, she saw the face of a Half-Elf, with three other elves standing beside him over the corpses of her captors. They belonged to An Aghaidh, a group devoted to freeing the oppressed. The Half-Elf and his companions helped Aala onto a horse and began their journey to Cirabaen, toward safety. In her few moments of clarity, Aala pleaded to be taken back to her home in the Azuremist. Though they did their best to care for her, she passed away shortly after reaching the Azuremist border, with the familiar blue ground underfoot. The An Aghaidh members honored her last wishes, burying her near the Iridescent Flow.

A New Beginning

868 days later, a river flood unearthed her body, carrying it to the Iridescent Flow Lake, where she awoke under a new moon, changed. Reborn as a goddess by the Mist, she had become a being of magic, her essence mingling the arcane and the void.   Setting out to return to Daladrin, Aala was drawn to an unexpected door bathed in warm light. As it opened, she was led into Iterna, the city of gods, her new divine home. A path wound up to a house bearing her name and a vast garden reminiscent of her childhood. She turned back, but the door she had come through had vanished.   Struggling to adapt to her life as a deity, Aala remained connected to her mortal self and uncertain of her new role. She felt distant from “normal” people and the life she once knew, finding it difficult to accept her place among the gods.

Influence from the Old World

Things took a dark turn when Fjalar the Otherworldly, a powerful Dragon-like being, appeared before Aala. He revealed to her the history of Aerion: that it had been created during The Tear by Anteus Esteban. Fjalar twisted the story to portray Anteus as a tyrant, hiding any suggestion that The Tear was an accident. Fjalar convinced Aala that Aerion was a prison, with its inhabitants trapped by Anteus’ selfish magic.   Enraged, Aala vowed to free Aerion and reunite it with its original dimension.

An Unfulfillable Wish

Drawn to the myth of the Sleeping Forest and its promises of miracles, Aala sought out the forest to find Sveva, the goddess of Memory, Healing, and Suffering. Immune to the memory-altering effects of the forest, Aala reached Sveva and confided her wish to reunite Aerion with its original world. Sveva, though empathetic, recognized that this desire was even beyond her own divine powers to fulfill. She cautioned Aala about the risks: if Aerion were reconnected with its original plane, the consequences might bring chaos rather than peace.   Despite her inability to grant the wish, Sveva was moved by Aala’s story. Over time, the two met often, forming a close bond of friendship. In times of need, they shared stories and offered each other support. Aala’s fiery resolve inspired Sveva, even as Sveva’s tempered wisdom guided Aala toward more careful, meaningful choices. They left each other small tokens of their bond—Aala planting flowers in Sveva’s forest to aid wanderers, and Sveva leaving folded leaves shaped like animals for Aala to find in her garden.

Mortal Ties and Followers

To help those in need, Aala occasionally wanders the streets of Cirabaen towns and cities in disguise, healing and granting minor blessings. She gifts her followers with Strelitzia flowers, infused with delayed spells that bloom and release their magic when certain conditions are met. These flowers might heal the recipient, protect them from harm, or bring hope in times of need.   The tales of a goddess walking among mortals to offer freedom and healing have inspired the Circle of Twilight, a faith devoted to her ideals of hope, freedom, and life. Though her primary goal of reuniting Aerion is known only to a small cult within the Circle, her followers trust that she will one day deliver them from their invisible chains.

Inner Conflict and Doubts

As Aala interacts with mortals who find contentment in their lives within Aerion, she sometimes doubts her mission. Witnessing their joy and peace makes her question Fjalar’s account and her goal of reunification. Restless, she wanders her garden at night, feeling the weight of her role as a goddess, a position that simultaneously empowers and distances her from the people she wishes to help.   Though she values freedom deeply, Aala remains uncomfortable with worship, preferring to be seen as an ordinary person.

Personality and Mannerisms

Aala is calm and thoughtful, speaking slowly and clearly to ensure understanding. She loves her garden, where exotic flowers and crystal formations create an otherworldly beauty. Among the belted kingfishers that live there, Twig—her favorite, a bird with a missing toe—is a constant companion. Her peaceful nature shifts if she witnesses oppression, where her righteous fury becomes unmistakable.   She values honesty, both in herself and others, and embraces cleanliness as a form of purity. Aala’s compassion draws people to her, while her strength and resolve inspire her followers to hope and strive for freedom.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

A shattered half-moon before a black sun, representing the broken past and the promise of renewal.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

While her main goal is to reunite Aerion with its home dimension and free its population from its invisible chains, Aala is also sometimes walking the streets of Cirabaen, gifting people in need one of her Stetzia flowers as a symbol of hope, unbeknown to its magical property. Hours, or even days after Aala has left them, the flower might bloom and trigger the effect of Aala's magic, healing or helping the recipient in dire times, granting them the goddess' minor miracle.

Physical Description

Body Features

Aala has a slender form with nearly black skin marked by bright vitiligo patterns, most prominent on her face, hands, and shoulders. Her left eye has a black sclera and brown iris, while her right eye is a bright grayish blue. Two crystal horns adorn her head, one broken, forming a half-moon that symbolizes both her brokenness and her rebirth.

Identifying Characteristics

She always has the slight smell of the Strelitzia flower (also known as Bird of Paradise or Crane Flower), which grow everywhere in her personal garden.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Aala's goal is to reunite Aerion back with its original planet, after they were separated during the Tear. After her captivity and torture by the Sanguine Order her desire for freedom is unlimited, so she wants to free everyone "imprisoned" inside the pocket-dimension.

Likes & Dislikes

She loves spending time in her garden, especially hanging out with the belted kingfishers that join her. One of them, she named twig and is easily spottable due to a missing toe, is her very favorite and they love to sing and chat together. Many exotic flowers and smells, combined with the colorful light which is projected by large crystals, make this place more than magical, not only to her.

Honesty to others but also yourself is also a trait she values a lot in others.

Personality Quirks

She appears to be a very calm and intellectual person, which makes it easy to want to follow her beliefs. As soon as anyone mentions any form of imprisonment or doesn't take the rights of individuals serious, she will turn into your worst nightmare and make you feel her wrath.

Hygiene

Personal hygiene is very important to her, it makes her feel clean and pure.
