Everchanging Forest
Located on a plateau framed by a small mountain range on two sides, the forest is mostly nourished by a freshwater lake and river coming from the mountains further up the north. Since the outbreak of void magic the woods are seemingly stuck in a permanent state of Autumn, but the appearance is deceptive - while the leaves are mostly of vibrant red, orange and golden hues, the vegetation itself is changing quite rapidly compared to everywhere else.
Born from the Void
Ederaan priests that had doubts that their prayers would ever be answered again, started researching and practicing other methods of healing or "miracles" inside the forest. Early experiments with the void magic caused acres of land to become uninhabitable and the "curse" started slowly spreading outwards. The Elderin intervened, reversing the worst of the effects. The after images created from its center what today is known as the Everchanging Forest and the Crimson Lake, to weaker effects towards the edge and carried by rivers like the very fertile lands around the Golden Hollow and various other mutations.Localized Phenomena
Even after the wild void outbreak was controlled by the Eladrin, the remnants of it are still lingering in the ground. Flora and fauna are mutating and evolving at strongly increased speed. New species are born and go instinct like the tides. Additionally the forest seems to be shifting, making it a living maze after you entered it. Only a handful of experienced guides know their way around without getting lost. Many souls never found their path back out.
Fauna & Flora
Due to the local phenomenon it is hard to catalogue all the new flora and fauna native to the Everchanging Forest. Some of the stronger species may stick around for a couple of decades, but most of them are merely there for a year or two, sometimes even just a single season or life cycle.
Natural Resources
Some researchers are specialized in identifying and gathering potentially useful plants and relocate them to Redwind before they would vanish from the surface of Aerion again. While many of them may be discarded later on, some of them turned out to be of great use for medicine, magic or other daily uses like spice or as a refiner for trees and flowers.
