The Northall Family

Composed entirely of Kenku, the Northall family is more than a little bit odd and off-putting to others given their peculiar method of speech. It is not widely known exactly why the Kenku feel they have to protect the Shattered Isles, but they do so vigilantly and diligently. While they are often uninvolved in political matters, they do occasional appear in meetings or functions, though they are rarely popular at such occasions.   There is also a large forge to the north run by the Lancaster Dwarves, who primarily focus on building ships that allow the islanders to trade and travel. The Kenku, having little understanding of royal succession actually do not observe the usual standard of a male inheritance, and as such, occasionally have female rulers.

Structure

No one understand the Kenku succession. When one dies a new one takes their place, but without apparent appointment or fighting. It is as if the bird-like beings inherently know the next leader.

Culture

The Shattered Isles are highly unusual in that they are exceptionally hard living. Nothing grows or lives on the island outside of those who live there. It is all high rock pillars that offer a deadly drop off into the ocean which holds many strange creatures. Such such, it is a very unpopular island and is more wildly used by those who have nowhere else to go. They have a simple economy and trade; still, it is just a cold and bitter place where people are encouraged to fend for themselves. Somehow the Northalls managed to provide food and clean water for the people to live off of, if only just that.

Assets

They don't appear to hold much of value.

History

Lord Chime was the recorded leader in 2624 at the age of 12 and ruled until he died in 2670 at 58. His mate was Whistle, a Kenku.   Lord Rat-Scratch took rule in 2670 at 37 and ruled until his death in 2692 at 59. His mate was the Kenku, Tick.   Lord Cat-Call came to power in 2692 at the age of 30. His mate is the Kenku Hum.

Care

The families hold a mutual respect built on their care for their respective citizens.

The Dead/Distrust

While the Northalls show a respect for what the Collwells do, the Collwells find the birds unsettling and have often expressed a desire not to work with them.

Ships

Oddly, the Doxys and Northalls have found a strange kinship over sailing and their appreciation for ships, and the Northalls are one of the few groups that the Doxys agree to share the seas with, without complaint.

Outcasts

The Gasters have often expressed an interest in the Northalls, being that they are so unusual and something of an outcast among the more respectable families.

Safety

Strangely the Northalls seem to greatly respect the Underborne and consider them a safety to the rest of the kingdom.

Odd/No Help

The Riverwoods are offset by the Northall Kenku who disapprove as the Riverwoods have no assisted the Hopes or the Whitehills as much as they should've.

No Help/Distrust

The Northalls disapprove of the Eviers for their refusal to help the lands who struggle to feed and shelter their people, and the Eviers have often expressed a dislike and distrust of the Kenku family.
