The Doxy Family

Known for being extreme risk-takers and self-proclaimed masters of the sea, the Doxys have a history of successes in recovering ancient treasure that is rivaled only by the equally long list of failures. As such, the Doxys are often considered something of a joke of a family by the more serious Lords and Ladies. However, in the end, they were effective enough to claim ownership over their own land and don't appear to have any desire to leave any time soon.

Structure

Like most of the royal families, the Doxy leadership went to the oldest surviving son. If there was no male heir, it would then pass to the nearest male relative.

Culture

The Doxys admire guts and determination above all else. Having a steadfast belief in your journey and your ways will get you farther than any individual act or behavior. They do hold a fascination with all myths and legends that are sea-related and hold themselves as masters of the Unending Sea, and can take offense if someone is attempting to beat them to a great discovery.   This behavior has led to a culture of great ambition and desire for adventure and exploration. Many sailors end up retiring on Doxy's Paradise due to a love of the sea and to tell stories of their adventures.

Public Agenda

Publicly, the Doxys neither make great effort to appease others, nor do anything to particularly offend the others. As an island a little way away from the mainland, they tend to keep to themselves save for trade and travel. They tend to lean into their reputation as being odd or obnoxious as an excuse to avoid meeting with other Lords and Ladies at parties.

Assets

In particular, they have a great many ships, but their pride is the main three large cargo ships that are the heart of their explorations: The Kraken's Bark, Aba's Throne, and the Fallen Star.

History

Lord Shayne, a human, was granted power in 2532 at the age of 16. He married Jenna, a human who bore a lone child: Gregor, a human. He died in 2582 at the age of 66.   Lord Gregor received power in 2582 at the age of 10. He married Charlisa, a human who bore Stannis, Rodrick, Robb, and Dawn, all human. Gregor died in 2643 at 71.   Lord Rodrick received power in 2643 at the age of 32. He has not yet married or claimed children.   Given that his older brother, Stannis had driven himself mad and broke searching for the sirens he swore were real, Rodrick overtook the family and helped both the town and his house become true explorers, often working with House Collwell when they could to search the very limits of the ocean. He has not yet married, but loves his two nephews and niece dearly.

Ships

The Doxys owe the Collwells a debt of gratitude in helping them build up their ships that they use to explore the oceans. As such, they tend to keep an eye out for any dangers that might be lurking beneath the waves.

Daring

The Stonebreakers appreciate the Doxy family's daring and cunning.

Ships

Oddly, the Doxys and Northalls have found a strange kinship over sailing and their appreciation for ships, and the Northalls are one of the few groups that the Doxys agree to share the seas with, without complaint.

Oddities

While they've had no real relations to one another, the Doxys tend to approve of the Gasters due to the fact that the family is unusual and breaks several of the social norms. Being a family that challenges the norms in their own ways, the Doxys respect the Gasters, and it helps that they do know how to sail properly.

Caring

The Doxys actually approve of the Hopes and their efforts as it shows a lot of care and attention to those who live in the Shadowed Forrest's land.

Caring

The Doxys appreciate the care that the Lichts show their civilians, and admire the strength and resolve they show in their determination to rebrand themselves.

Lordship

While the Doxy's feel an incredible debt and gratitude towards the Riverwoods for formalizing their family and granting a territory, the Riverwood family feels the Doxys might ill-suited to the job.

Reckless/Uptight

The Moonstars and Doxy are cut from two very different cloths. Due to the high demand the Moonstars place on laws and regulations, they think of the Doxys are reckless and foolish. Meanwhile the Doxys find them to be annoying and far too uptight to really deal with.

Money

The Eviers and Doxys have a history of arguing over monetary gain. The Eviers see the Doxy's adventures as little more than illegal gain, while the Doxys tend to see the Eviers' behavior as lax and lazy. They have often argued before.

Reckless/Odd

The Doxys may appreciate the Tàlma family due to their oddities, however, the Tàlma view the Doxys as reckless and dangerous and try not to associate with them.
