Materia 27: "Katanagatari"
General Summary
Fredrika meets with Mari to discuss plans to gather the true name of Titivilus. Subaru approaches the party with information regarding Aiwin Thedan's clones, offering it in exchange for money. Accepting, the party convinces Hanzo to pay the sum directly toward Subaru's debts to Shinobu, shrewdly shortchanging Subaru. With information acquired, the party sets out toward the Shou countryside, exploring a tomb of the First Ones containing Aiwin's clones. After fighting off a number of sun elves and undead, the party destroys a number of Aiwin clones and retrieves one to bring back to Teikyou.
Back in Seito, Jun and Mari rendezvous to see Katanagatari, an adaptation of one of Nishimura Nara's works, with Hanako, Yvri, and others additionally attending. The play starkly depicts a massacre, and follows up with themes of violence and revenge, prompting introspection from the audience. Afterward, Aiwin Thedan briefly meets Mari in the street, attempting to recruit her. As the city panics, Mari and Jun retreat to an inn room to partake in drunken courtship.
