Dhun Wahrum

Dhun Wahrum is a grand dwarven citadel carved deep into the heart of the Kilconna Rise mountains, a testament to the craftsmanship, strength, and resilience of its dwarven inhabitants. The citadel’s exterior is almost imperceptible from afar, blending seamlessly into the jagged cliffs of the mountains, with its massive gates and towering stone walls built directly into the rock. Visitors approaching Dhun Wahrum are first greeted by the imposing gates, reinforced with iron and adorned with intricate carvings of dwarven heroes, mountain landscapes, and runes of protection. Torches burn day and night, casting flickering light on the ancient stone, while watchful dwarven sentinels stand guard over the entrance.   Inside, Dhun Wahrum is a vast underground city that extends far beneath the surface. The citadel is built around a series of great halls, each one larger than the last, with vaulted ceilings supported by massive stone pillars engraved with runes and the history of the dwarven clans. The halls are illuminated by magical gemstones embedded in the walls, casting a warm, golden glow over the bustling activity within. Forges burn hot in the lower levels of the citadel, where dwarven smiths craft finely made weapons, armor, and tools. The dwarves of Dhun Wahrum are renowned across the Moontide Isles for their craftsmanship, producing goods that are both practical and artistic, prized by warriors, adventurers, and nobles alike.   Beneath the citadel lies a network of mines that reach deep into the heart of the Kilconna Rise, where the dwarves extract precious metals and gemstones from the earth. These mines are both the lifeblood of Dhun Wahrum’s wealth and a source of danger, as the Fomorian giants that inhabit the deeper parts of the mountains sometimes clash with the miners. The dwarves are ever vigilant, maintaining a complex system of defenses within the tunnels to protect against these monstrous incursions. Dhun Wahrum’s ability to thrive despite these threats is a point of pride for its inhabitants, who see themselves as the guardians of the mountain and its riches.   In addition to its military and economic strength, Dhun Wahrum is also a cultural center for the dwarves of Llywelyn, home to ancient traditions, sacred places of worship, and great archives where the knowledge and history of the dwarven people are preserved. The Hall of the Ancestors, a revered chamber deep within the citadel, is where the dwarves pay tribute to their forebears and seek their guidance through rituals and meditation. Dhun Wahrum is not merely a fortress; it is the beating heart of dwarven life on the Isle of Llywelyn, a citadel that stands as a symbol of endurance and the indomitable spirit of its people.
