Uldhir Peaks
The Uldhir Peaks rise majestically in the northwest of the Isle of Llywelyn, a craggy and imposing mountain range that stretches across the land like the jagged spine of an ancient beast. These mountains are a rugged and untamed wilderness, where sheer cliffs and deep valleys hide secrets both ancient and deadly. The peaks are often capped with snow, and mist rolls down from the higher altitudes, giving the range an eerie and otherworldly feel. The Tallhyde Marsh lies to the south of the mountains, its wetlands creating a stark contrast to the cold, rocky terrain of the Uldhir Peaks.
Nestled in the northernmost part of the mountains is the dwarven city of Dhun Tarum, a bastion of stone and steel carved directly into the mountainside. The dwarves of Dhun Tarum are known for their skill in mining and metalwork, extracting precious minerals from deep within the mountains and forging weapons and armor of exceptional quality. Their city is a fortress as much as it is a settlement, with thick stone walls and towering battlements that provide protection from the many dangers that lurk in the Uldhir Peaks. Dhun Tarum is both a place of trade and refuge, with tunnels and caverns that stretch far beneath the mountains, connecting the city to ancient dwarven strongholds long forgotten by time.
The Uldhir Peaks are home to more than just dwarves, however. Giants, both hill and stone, roam the highest reaches of the mountains, claiming the peaks as their domain. These giants live in isolated communities, rarely seen but deeply feared by the dwarves and travelers who dare to venture too far from the safety of Dhun Tarum. In addition to the giants, Orc tribes have long dwelled in the lower valleys of the Uldhir Peaks, eking out a brutal existence by raiding nearby settlements and clashing with both the dwarves and the giants. The orcs are formidable warriors, and their numbers seem to swell with each passing year, making them a constant threat to anyone who lives in or near the mountains.
The Uldhir Peaks are a place of both opportunity and danger, where adventurers seeking wealth in the form of rare minerals or ancient relics must contend with the harsh landscape, marauding orcs, and the ever-present threat of giants. The dwarves of Dhun Tarum remain vigilant, knowing that their survival depends on maintaining a delicate balance with the powerful forces that call the Uldhir Peaks home.
