Having seen and been hit by the targeted attacks from the human takeover at court, the Goblin Ratrider Family are now one of the most courtly of all the noble families, taking their courtly duties far more seriously than any of the other families do. Before the Humans arrived, the Ratriders used to be the cavalry guard, but in recent times that role has been rendered mostly obsolete by the city's more modern defences. They have been relegated to be in charge of pest control on the basis that they have a history with vermin. Several of the members can actually talk to rats through their vermin empathy.

Structure

Vizier and Viziera
Vizier Scamp Ratrider: After the assassination of his brother Fang and the exile of his other brother Whirl, Vizier Scamp Ratrider has adopted a cautious approach to his role. In an understandable departure from his family's historical rebellious streak, Scamp is fastidiously concerned with propriety and courtly ettiquette, and puts in the effort to follow the human dictated traditions and values, even moreso than the human families themselves.
Viziera Paddypaw Ratrider: The twin sister of Subviziera Veralyn Jackalslicer, Viziera Paddypaw Ratrider's primary motivatiions are supporting her husband in court and ensuring the family stay under the radar as much as possible.
Subvizier and Subviziera
Subvizier Toothsome Ratrider: Subvizier Toothsome Ratrider has big teeth that he sharpens with his ornate kris dagger. He is, at least officially, a Richian, which would align with his birthday on Givesday, Richmoon (although the association of Givesday with trickery might suggest a less straightforward adherance to the Rich Man than it initially appears).
Subviziera Bogla Ratrider: Toothsome's wife, Subviziera Bogla Ratrider comes from the wealthy Slooce family in the Socialite District, and married into nobility. She has a pet Wolpertinger, Gumbo, which could suggest ties to the forbidden deity, Brambleson, the Prince of Rabbits. It could also be a coincidence, since Bogla professes to worship the Tailor and it would be an odd choice for a Goblin to worship a Bunbun god.
Vizier's Other Children
Katib Tonkus Ratrider: Katib Tonkus Ratrider is one of the few people in Palimpsest who can wield a pistol. While being loud and flashy are both highly enjoyed qualities for most Goblins, they are considered more trouble than they're worth by much of the Noble Court, and simply out of the price range of most lower-level citizens. Tonkus has an elegant curly moustache and wears his hair in the traditional goblin bunches.
Katib Dervish Ratrider: Katib Dervish Ratrider, wears a jewelled turban in a style different from the official Vizier and Subvizier outfit, and can duel wield his scimitars with an impressive speed.
Katib Bongo Ratrider: Katib Bongo Ratrider enjoys playing the drum. He and his twin sister, Swomp, are too young to engage in many noble duties. They are part of the group of noble children who follow Katiba Scarlett Dargent.
Katiba Buttonmouth Ratrider: One of the three Ratrider triplets (alongside Tonkus and Dervish), Katiba Buttonmouth Ratrider is the creepiest of all her siblings. Her arms are a little too long, her smile a little too wide, and her obsession with buttons a little too fervent. Buttonmouth has black buttons sewn into all her outfits and wears a button over one eye as something of an anti-monocle. Chances are, the eye button has some kind of magical properties.
Katiba Swomp Ratrider: Katiba Swomp Ratrider and her twin brother, Bongo, are too young to engage in many noble duties. They are part of the group of noble children who follow Katiba Scarlett Dargent.
Katiba Whisp Ratrider: The eldest daughter of Vizier Scamp and the twin sister of Subvizier Toothsome, Katiba Whisp Ratrider wears a magical monacle, perhaps alluding to the family's historical tradition of worshipping the Good Captain, whose holy symbol was a monacle wrapped around a sabre.

Nightmares
"As for the lesser goblins. Their nightmares are many and varied. A dedicated sense of discipline and detachment seems to keep most of their tribe from obsessing over singular occurrences but patterns do emerge. They all fear the loss of more relatives. They all fear the precariousness of their family’s position should they step out of line. One way or another, they all fear the Underhands."The Man Who Is Not There tells Lindie Asklepa the nightmares of the Noble Court.
