Marti Brighthearth (a.k.a. Marti Pleenast)
To most Marti was a simple barmaid at the Decrepit Crab in Ardrest, but her story had a far darker start. Now, thanks to the actions of the Frostyear Guardians, she is freed of the malicious influence of Bergatha, the Hag. She continues to train with Randal and his ward, Edward. In hopes of one day becoming an adventurer herself.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Marti is an attractive human (outwardly) girl that typically appears and acts older than her true age. She has a lock of golden blonde hair in the middle of her otherwise dark head. In most times she is quite lovely, but when angered her face is said to be a terror to behold.
Special abilities
Marti has the powers of a night hag, and had the ability to move between planes and use considerable dark magic powers. Only minor reflections of these abilities have been seen since the events at Hagsfall.
Though it comes at a cost, Marti still has the ability to reach into her hag past and take the form of the night hag she once was.

Personal history
In late 1476, under the pretense of attending the local Fortyear Festival, Adela, the middle unwed Princess of Elow, traveled to Ardrest. Heavily pregnant with the child of her lover, she was actually to retire to a Ciunite monastery near Croglen for the birth. She never made it that far, as the hag, Bergatha found her and abducted her as the perfect candidate for her Hag Ritual. Adela survived the horror long enough to give birth to her daughter but no longer. Bergatha took the infant and in a horrible ritual created a nascent night hag that would form the third member of her coven.
Hags have no love for children and no desire to raise them, so shortly after the festival, Bergatha deposited the infant where it would be found by the tavernkeeper, Mendra, who named the girl Marti, and nursed and raised her as her own. Despite being the adoptive daughter of a dwarf, Marti enjoyed a relatively normal childhood and always prone to tricks, mischief, and going where where didn't belong. On the day she turned 13, Marti awoke to the full and horrible powers given to her. Following the commands of her foul hag mother, Marti joined in the plan of the Hags of Ardrest to spread suffering throughout the town. The would have continued to feast on the people there for ages if not for the intervention of the Frostyear Guardians.
The Guardians thwarted Bergatha's plan to make a new daughter at High Perch, and even slew the body of the Harpy Queen that the witch has possessed. Though prepared for this eventuality, Bergatha was greatly weakened by her own death, and began to draw considerable power from her daughters to revive herself. The Guardians seeing Marti struck by an unknown illness, struck a deal with a powerful fae, the Auroral Mistress, in order to save the girl and defeat the hag once and for all. They returned to Ardrest with a fae blessed apple, which infused Marti with enough positive fae energy to break Bergatha's hold over her and shatter the witch's coven, significantly weakening her before the final battle at Hagsfall.
Marti, now free of the dark force driving her life to evil, has rededicated herself to living up the model of those who saved her.
Sexuality
In many ways, Mendra was a good mother figure to Marti, certainly better than a malicious hag at least; however, the young girl did pick up the bartender's manner making Marti both a flirt and gossip. She has no problem leaning on her attractiveness even at a young age, but to date has not taken gone any further.
Employment
Marti spent most of her young life tending bar at the Decrepit Crab. With the defeat of Bergatha, Marti has begun to train with the townguard in her spare time and has ambitions to become an adventurer one day.
Mental Trauma
Bergatha was a being of pure hate and relished in suffering of others. The ritual that created her daughter, would have made Marti just like her if not for the intervention of the Frostyear Guardians, Mendra, and the Auroral Mistress she likely would have become just as foul. Now she struggles at times to balance her darker impulses but still remains committed to being a good person.
