A race of half-demons/malignant deities, they are generally mistrusted and hated wherever they go due to familial connection to demonic entities and
Gods of Gehenna and Sheol. The Yadan is generally a nomadic race of people due to extreme racial persecution against the kind they had. However, those that did manage to stay in one place suffer from racial prejudice, the odd pogrom, serfdom, or restrictive occupation standards. They are a race of artisans, blacksmiths, musicians, brewers, and dancers that enjoy living whatever lives they can.
Their origins lie in those who were sexually assaulted by demons and the Gods of Gehenna and Sheol. Their seed would corrupt any possible offspring that the mortal wished to have. It is for this reason that those who birthed a Yadan were sterilized and the Yadan were banished to wandering or the ghettos of townships in extreme cases, but in light cases, the parents of a Yadan were allowed to live in the ghetto with their children while being branded as "Tainted."
They, unlike most on Tenebra, are monotheistic and worship
Captiel/Carnival as their sole diety. This brought another level of persecution upon the Yadan due to their foreign way of worship.
Their treatment would change dramatically over the course of the years following the
Second Great Holy War and the decrees that the gods of the
Pantheon of the Black Star brought onto the
Church of the Black Star. This extends onward to the future as the sect known as the
Church of Carnival.
