Mixed Race: Dragonborn

The Dragonborns of Sailan are a very proud race, full of traditions and conservative thought. There were some Dragonborns outside the continent before the Age of Rediscovery in the Third Age, Kingdoms but they were clanless and were treated as curiosity, while in the Jadeite Empire, they are greater citizens of the nation, right after Dragons. Their history starts in the Second Age, Godswar. The Jade Emperor fought many battles against the Elven gods during The Elder War, so he bleed many times, recovering mostly in future Sailan. His blood would mix with the water. Humans, of that Age that would drink it, would become monsters. This would bring the wrath of many other gods and he didn't need new enemies. He slew all those that drank his blood (those that survived, drank his diluted blood without turning into beasts, becoming later Dragonblood Humans) and saw the need of smaller creatures that would help him in many tasks. First, he thought of the Kobolds but he saw them as too simple. Using his influence, he gathered the blood of many Dragons, mixed it with his own and the soil. Making clay guardians that would become the ancestors of the Dragonborns (Born of Dragons is the name for the first Dragonborn). These humanoids would travel with the Jade Emperor and work as his liaisons, over time he needed more of them, thus he started a new race, granting them powers to reproduce. Most of their progeny would stay in the future Sailan, while others would stay in other places in the world. After the Second Age, Godswar ended, those outside Sailan were thought to be dead, while themselves would forget their ancestry. Many Dragonborns of Sailan do not tell certain specifics of their creation as the Gilded Hand helped the Jade Emperor create the Dragonborn, he gathered the blood, convinced others without the need of a fight and even gave some of his powers to empower the Dragonborn during their conception. Those that tell this part of the story are brandished as heretics and killed as the Gilded Hand is seen as a traitor deity in the Jadeite Empire.

On Tethys

The Dragonborn of Sailan are divided in clans, based on their ancestry. Most of them live in the Jadeite Empire, they worship their creator (Jade Emperor), keep in reverence other Dragons and their ancestors. They are tightly knit community. Most of the Dragonborn from Sailan found outside the continent are traders, explorers, mostly nobles wanting to see the world. The Dragonborn, whose heritage lies elsewhere, are clanless. They live their lives similar to the human counterparts as they have almost none of their drive to revere tradition and ancestry from Sailan. Both sides do not like each other, sometimes with death on the line. The Dragonless nickname was coined for them, which they hate. They do have their own nations like Oxantia and they serve in courts to dragons of the Old World like in Albersberg, thus finding purpose, honor and tradition elsewhere. There is a small group of Dragonborn that follow the Gilded Hand and spread the word of the forgotten part of their ancestry. They are hunted by the Sailan Dragonborn.

First World Theory

On the First World, the Dragonborn were a divided race. Created by the Mother of All Dragons, they were used to be enemies of Humans, until they were united fighting the same target. The relationship opened up. Similar to the Sailan variety, the Dragonborn of the First World were divided into clans by their ancestry.

Dragonborn Features

Most of the Dragonborn features make them look like dragons. Their heads look very much the same and their age is counted similar to that of True Dragons as their heads would gain features over the course of their short lives (compared to a dragon). There is little difference between the Dragonborn of Sailan and those that never lived there. However, there is a rarity that happens in the Sailan Dragonborn that is almost impossible to happen in the Dragonless (if it did, they might have been hunted down and killed) and it is Tails and Wings. Dragonborn with tails are seen as blessed by the Jade Emperor and are seen more fondly by the populace of Jadeite Empire. While winged Dragonborns are even rarer and are seen as an omen, it is up to the Dragonborn if his wings are a good or bad omen.

Breath Weapon. You can use your action to exhale destructive energy. Your draconic ancestry determines the size, shape, and damage type of the exhalation.
When you use your breath weapon, each creature in the area of the exhalation must make a saving throw, the type of which is determined by your draconic ancestry. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level.
After you use your breath weapon, you can't use it again until you complete a short or long rest.   Damage Resistance. You have resistance to the damage type associated with your draconic ancestry.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Draconic. Draconic is thought to be one of the oldest languages and is often used in the study of magic. The language sounds harsh to most other creatures and includes numerous hard consonants and sibilants.
