Monstrous Race: Gnoll

Gnolls are a humanoid race that most closely resembled human-hyena hybrids. They are carnivorous humanoids, known for their savage culture and warlike ways. Gnolls are extremely tall, with the average member of the race standing on average between 7′0″‒7′6″ (2.1‒2.3 m). Though gnolls are relatively lean for their height, weighing in usually between 280‒320 lb (130,000‒150,000 g), they cut an impressive visage. In part because of their height and lean musculature, gnolls are very fast compared with many other races such as humans. Gnoll skin is greenish-gray, and their furry hide a light or dark brown hue, sometimes marked with spots or stripes. Many gnolls also have a dirty yellow to a reddish-gray crest-like mane that stands on end when they are angry. It is believed by some that gnolls have traces of demonic blood, which may be evidenced by unusual features found among some of the gnoll bloodlines. These may have include talons, gleaming red eyes, or black fur with fiery orange spots.    The race has an infamous history, rarely told by the elves, as the first gnolls were actually of their race. Followers of an elven warlord named Ye'en, they would murder and pillage, sometimes even other elven lands at the start of the Third Age, Kingdoms. This sickening sight was seen by their patron, the Wise One and he cursed them, transforming the raiders and their leader into monstrosisites known as the gnolls. The leader and some of his people escaped into the Demonic Corridors before other elves came and slaughtered the rest. There they would create their own home - Death Dwells. The race would be locked in the plane, expanding and growing and it wasn't until Ye'en, now calling himself Yeenoghu made a pact with the soon-to-be betrayers of the Wise One, his children - Assassin and Eternal Blade, that his people would return to the Material Plane during the War of the Underworld. For millennia, the race would infest many places in the world and while most of them forgotten their elven and demonic roots, some elves still remember and hunt the gnolls whenever they can.

On Tethys

Most of the gnolls are tribalistic, caring for food more than anything. They love to eat elven flesh and hunt them (likewise elves search for gnolls and exterminate them with great prejudice). Barely capable of creating civilized societies, the gnolls prefer to live in tribes, far away from big towns and cities. While most do not care about the heritage, the wise men of the tribes do. Demonology is prevalent in the tribes and many shamans are warlocks of Yeenoghu, seeking to change their race or bring forth many more demonic creatures to plague the lands of the elves.

First World

The Gnolls in the First World were created from elves by the giants, who needed a force against the human invaders. These creatures would betray their creators and become a stain on elven history, as through their rape of elves, they would spawn werewolves.
