Wise One

The Wise One is gone as a god. The first Greater Deity that abandoned his godhood (or just left the Cube). Below is his profile as he would still exist, before the events of The Second Divergence  .   The Maker of Magic. The Wise One was not only the god of all Elves but also the god of all Magic and Knowledge. His worshippers were spread amongst all of Tethys races, who sought to uncover the secrets of magic.

History

The Wise One was said to be the oldest of the First Gods. Together with Vecna, he formed the Cube and Threads of Magic. He assisted the Sunlord in setting the planets in their orbits, and the God of Sun in the center at its work end. He fought against the Titans aside the Translucent Traveler, and was said to seen through the Atlas betreyal. Together with Divine King he moved to offer peace towards the other Titans, and gathered the First Gods to finally banish them, when offered no other choice.   If you believe in the First World Theory, the Wise One was once a high elf that gathered the group, which later together with him vanquished the great evil, saving the First World. If you don’t, Wise One was the one to navigate The First Gods to the world, desiring to create a paradise safe from the dangers of The Void. He was first to try and convince the Titans to choose the path of peace but was forced to fight against them.   During the age of Second Age, Godswar, he was one of the most pacifistic of gods, resulting only to fight in defense of own believers and gods that followed him. Again and again, the dragon god Jade Emperor tried to steal his power and domain over magic and knowledge, even gathering the assistance of proto-Chromatic Alliance of dragon gods, but was unable to in the end.   He became very busy during the Third Age, Kingdoms, helping his people navigate after the shattering of their home. This focus meant that his children, Assassin and Eternal Blade, were able to plot against him and their mother, Wise One's lover, the Savioress, who was a mortal elven woman in the First Age, The Titan War and the god of magic fell in love with her since then. After negotiating with the Gilded Hand, founding the Elder Pantheon, the Wise One was betrayed by his children and almost killed. It is said that he floated in the Astral Sea, unconscious enough to heal his wounds. When he returned, the elven patron gods banished the traitors, who later would join the Chromatic Alliance with the enemies of the elven race, those dragon gods that didn't accept the alliance or peace.   After the lengthy battles against the Icons, during the Fourth Age, The Calamity where he helped to destroy Alduir, Ethiopias and the Titan Wyrm, he tried to offer them peace but was rejected. When later the Icons revived themselves, it was obvious to the Wise One that it was their divine intervention that would not allow the Icons to be defeated. After the mortals were able to achieve this, a new danger loomed over the horizon as one of the Icons was used by Vecna to further his goals to become an Overgod. Seeing through the plan of the god of death, he began gathering the other pantheons and gods to stop him, even bringing as many mortals as he could. After a lenghty battle, only one god would be able to reach Vecna and it was the Wise One. The Palace of the Overgod laid bare to him, it is unknown how the conversation between the Wise One and Vecna went, the consequences were seen from the mortal realm. A fight broke out that shattered stars above Tethys, maiming the Constellation of Life's End and causing seasonal falling stars to appear each year at the date of their struggle. The fight also had unforeseen (or maybe forseen) consequences of the continent of Archeron shattering into the Archeon Islands and starting the Post-Calamity Era of the Fifth Age, Current Age. Vecna went into hiding, while Wise One returned with the Death Portfolio, which he gave to a mortal, who became the Last Judge.   Nobody aside from the gods themselves, and maybe the highest of His priest know the reason behind the sudden disappearance of their god. Few theories surround the event at which all of the elves could feel Wise One’s presence in their souls before his voice was forever silenced. No more spells, no more visions, just a foreboding void. One of the theories says that Wise One was called to fight against the terrible enemy outside of the Crystal Cube, other speaking about god leaving his worshippers to their fate to reach for cosmic power. The least popular, based on First World Theory, belives that Wise One returned to his mortal form, for reasons unknown. This event is called by many names, though amongst the popular rules The Great Egoism and The Wise Silence.   The portfolios were given to other gods or became vacant. The Magic and Knowledge went to the Loyal Student, Elves went to the Savioress, while Protection became vacant, the Pride Portfolio made his Aspect Malthen’Hir, The Golden Lord gain sentience, becoming the Prime Egoist.

Dogma

  • Be wise, never rush. Gather knowledge and use it well.
  • Magic is reserved for those proud enough to claim it.
  • Protect your elven brothers and sisters, no matter their origin.
  • Relationships with other Gods

The Wise One had close relations with the First Gods, even with Vecna. He fell in love with the Savioress, when she was just a mortal and they together helped the elven race to prosper. He sired two children - Assassin and the Eternal Blade, both of which betrayed him during the A Father Betrayed event. He kept good friendships with other members of the Elder Pantheon and tried to have allies in all other pantheons, even secret ones in his enemies' ones. Ever since he met with the Jade Emperor, he knew they were destined to become enemies and that dynamic never changed.
