Silverbay

The independent port city-state of Silverbay is a major port of the continent. Many ships go through it, mainly between Venland and western coast of the Old World. Silverbay became a powerhouse after leaving the Mathras empire, leaving all the income for themselves, bolstering their own defenses, hiring mercenaries, and much more. For many people from other continents like Arakhor or Sailan, Silverbay is their first stop in Riverlands, be it by sea or air.

History

Once known as the city of Corbora, the port was vital in the revival of Riverlands under the rule of the Demon King. After his death, the nation of Mathras took back the city and installed the House Mendoza as their rulers. The city prospered and became the major port of the Riverlands and a frequent spot for traders between Venland and Old World. Some say that the port had the whole empire on its back, and the war machine against Isila. The Barony began thinking about independence after The Second Divergence but kept their loyalties, until The Chronoplague happened and the Emperor decided to barely help Corbora in their time of need. House Mendoza saw no other choice and joined many other port cities on the western coast and declared independence. Renaming themselves to the Silverbay, they cut all ties to the Empire. While there isn't a formal war between them, Silverbay is treated as a hostile actor, compared to other cities on the western coast, thus a lot of their trade does not go through the borders of Mathras but they do try to trade with Isila, Midgaard and Osor-zuntîr as well as other port cities and nations worldwide.
