Antaros
Antaros is the oldest known inhabited city in the world, and is home to the Eldgach of the Antarian Domain.
The city is fabled for it's beauty and grace. Primarily constructed from a pearlescent, marble-like material, it glimmers and glistens in the light, with varying shades of green and pink. From afar the city gives the impression of a shimmering mirage rather than a solid structure. Slender spires rise from the buildings, linked by graceful arches that almost seem to hover in the air.
The secrets of such incredible construction are now lost, but the original architects of the city used the curvaceous forms of the buildings to draw the eye to areas of beauty such as the many gardens and statuary. The city is strong enough to withstand the strongest siege weapons, but appears as delicate as a glass flower.
The port remains a busy focal point of the city, and a small settlement of human merchants has built up outside the city walls. They trade the beautifully crafted goods that the elves make from the exotic woods and materials of the Kaszur Jungle. Inside the city, the High Market trades the goods that the merchants bring from across The Azure Sea. It is a place that many scholars, sages and traders would dearly love to explore, but it is rare to see non-elves inside the city walls.
Outside of the walls there are large farmsteads, created to exist in harmony with the land. On the sunny hills to the east of the city are large plantations where Antarian Tea is grown.
Ancient Antediluvian ruins can be found in the city, perhaps the signs of an even older settlement that once stood here. The city has certainly been the spiritual home of Elvendom in the lands for as long as anyone can tell. Before the Antarian Domain and the Great Schism it was the base of the great Antarian Federation, and it's power was renowned.
Just inside the city walls sits the Eldature, the ruling senate of the city. Decisions made in this place will effect the lives of many on the eastern shores of the sea, and even, perhaps, beyond.
These ruins are many thousands of years old and are greatly revered by the Elves of Antaros. They are likely the remains of the original settlement that was on this site before the Great Deluge, and are still studied by scholars to this day. Cathedral of Procan
The cathedral of Procan in Antaros is famed for its incredible decorations, including arabesques, symbols of Procan, anchors, and chains all carved from stone. In the centre is a towering 20 foot high statue of the god himself. The cathedral's walls stand over a hundred feet high. It sits on a spur of rock that just out into the harbour. Folwin Waesrel is the high priest here. Dwelling District
The Dwelling District of Antaros is in the north-east of the city, in which the vast majority of the populace live. It is a relaxing area of beautiful houses, well-tended gardens, babbling brooks and calm lakes. It appears to be permanent autumnal state due to the colour of the leaves in the trees here. The Eldature
Sitting just inside the south-eastern gates of Antaros, the Eldature building is constructed of highly polished marble made by the Dwarves of Koldor's Hold. Inside sits the legislative council of the Eldgach. High Market
High Market is a large, permanent market area in the centre of the city. A wide variety of exotic goods can be found here as well as beautifully crafted art objects of elvish make. Port of Antaros
The fabled port of Antaros is a bustling place as a place of mercantile endeavour and the base of the Antarian Navy. There is a small settlement of non-elven races that has grown in the port, but outside of the city walls. Shalaevar Lumenor leads the Navy in exercises outside of the port. Royal Gardens of Antaros
The Royal Gardens of Antaros are a marvellous and well-tended showcase of botanicals, beautifully designed to complement the Royal Towers that they surround. They are a popular place for the elves of the city to wander and contemplate. Royal Towers of Antaros
The Royal Towers of Antaros are a complex of tall, slender towers which houses the royal family and their retinue. They sit atop a plateau in the north-western part of the city amongst beautiful gardens. Temple of Corellon
The large Temple of Corellon sits in the Dwelling District of Antaros. It appears to be made of paper-thin alabaster, with soaring spires; a marvel of architecture and design. A great stained-glass window on the western side depicts the elven god of creation cutting out one of the eyes of the orcish god Gruumsh. Lierin Farxina leads the services here. The Ur-Tree
Opposite the Eldature sits a huge tree that towers many hundreds of feet into the air. It is likely millennia old, possibly even planted by the Antediluvians. The species is unknown, though some say it comes from the very centre of the Drowned Jungle. It is highly revered by the Elves, who believe it was planted by Corellon Larethian himself. Tel'har Fae resides within the roots of the Ur-Tree. Village of the Lost
The Village of the Lost is a large graveyard on the eastern side of the city. Many former lords of the city are entombed here in large, ornate buildings that lead to a warren of passages underneath.
