Weaver

Your family have traditionally been weavers. It is not something a newcomer does. It requires a knowledge of the community and the land, the history and traditions. It is a skill passed down from parent to child.   Weavers are the most admired crafters in the community, and they do tend to be the leaders. The Chiefs have been weavers going back generations.   The Weavers keep the knowledge of each family's unique cloth pattern, the colours and their meanings, the shapes and symbols, and their meanings.   They know how the families are intertwined, going back for generations, and they can tell you at a glance who is related to whom, simply by reading the patterns in the different fabrics that everyone wears.   They understand the logic and the intricacies of pattern, and the structure of the warp and weft beneath. Weavers are therefore also the strategists who plan for conflict, and who oversee the upholding of the island's laws.
