Light Dragon

Light dragons are a species of dragon, and one of the seventeen main dragon types.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Light dragons have the same basic anatomy as any dragon. Some identifying features are short, thin curved spines from their neck to their tail, and horns that lie almost flat against the back of their head, jutting straight back. Sometimes their horns have a small curve in the middle.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dragons reproduce sexually, and give birth via eggs. However, dragon eggs are extremely durable, to the point of being invincible.

Growth Rate & Stages

Dragons mature very quickly at the start of their life, both physically and mentally. As time passes, this growth slows to a normal rate, and stays that way for the rest of their lives. During the first six years or so, dragons will grow at an incredible rate.

Ecology and Habitats

Most, if not all light dragons, tend to find their way to Heaven, and become allies with angels.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Light dragons feed by absorbing and processing light around them. In total darkness, a light dragon would starve.

Biological Cycle

The highest chance of seeing a light dragon outside of Heaven is probably during the summertime, when the day is at its longest. They enjoy basking and taking naps in the sun.

Behaviour

Despite not being from Heaven, light dragons have an innate sense of duty to be kind and do the right thing. They help anyone they come across and try to make life better for everyone around them. For this, many races and dragon species get along with them well, and friendships with light dragons are usually quite close, with relationships being even closer. Sometimes, people take advantage of light dragons though, seeing them as naive or hopeless optimists.

  • Magic Detection: Like all dragons, light dragons have the ability to sense magic users or magic being used.
  • Omnilingualism: Like all dragons, light have the ability to fluently speak and understand all languages.
  • Photokinesis: Light dragons have the ability to use light magic.

Civilization and Culture

Common Taboos

Most, if not all light dragons are polite and kind, helping others around them. As such, any cruelty, harshness or foul behavior on the part of a light dragon would earn the disgust of their peers.

Common Myths and Legends

There was a time when light dragons were heralded as messengers of Heaven, but this has been found to be untrue; while light dragons do tend to live in Heaven, they are not originally from it, and are creatures of the earth just like everything else.
