Water Dragon

Water dragons are a species of dragon, and one of the seventeen main dragon types.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Water dragons have the same basic anatomy as any dragon. Instead of having spines, water dragons have a long fish-like fin that runs from their neck to their tail. Their tail ends in another water-drop shaped tail fin. Water dragon's scales are much smaller and more numerous than other dragons', and are smooth to the touch, almost like fish scales. A pair of antennae/feelers sprout from a water dragon's head and stream behind them like ribbons in the wind. Water dragons' wings are similar to standard batlike dragon wings, but are used for pushing and propelling themselves through the water more than flight.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dragons reproduce sexually, and give birth via eggs. However, dragon eggs are extremely durable, to the point of being invincible.

Growth Rate & Stages

Dragons mature very quickly at the start of their life, both physically and mentally. As time passes, this growth slows to a normal rate, and stays that way for the rest of their lives. During the first six years or so, dragons will grow at an incredible rate.

Ecology and Habitats

Water dragons live mostly underwater, being aquatic, but they can breathe both air and water.   Water dragons can most often be found in the ocean, though water dragons making a home out of a freshwater habitat is not unheard of. Sephecura is a notable habitat.

Biological Cycle

Water dragons tend to migrate from location to location with the seasons, going wherever the water is warmest at that time.

Behaviour

Water dragons are a playful breed of dragon, and try to make friends with everyone they meet. They love playing games and tricks, and going on adventures. They always seem to have an upbeat attitude. They get along best with storm dragons and, oddly enough, fire dragons.
