Rock dragon

Rock dragons are a species of dragon, and one of the seventeen main dragon types.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Rock dragons have the same basic anatomy as any dragon, except for one key difference: they have no wings. Rock dragons' scales are the size of dinner plates. They overlap and are plates of extremely durable, solid rock. Rock dragons, like ice dragons, have an entire crown of horns on the back of their head, not just two. Rock dragons have sharp, rocky spines from their neck to their tail. Their tail ends in a giant spiked wrecking ball-like weapon.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dragons reproduce sexually, and give birth via eggs. However, dragon eggs are extremely durable, to the point of being invincible.

Growth Rate & Stages

Dragons mature very quickly at the start of their life, both physically and mentally. As time passes, this growth slows to a normal rate, and stays that way for the rest of their lives. During the first six years or so, dragons will grow at an incredible rate.

Ecology and Habitats

Rock dragons like to live deep underground where it is cool and quiet. Before the war, they lived underground with dwarves.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Rock dragons mainly eat rocks around them. Precious stones and gems are considered a delicacy.

Behaviour

Rock dragons are dragons of few words, and when they do speak, they're gruff about it. They are the dragons that take the most time trusting others. They're not trying to be mean, they just don't understand social interaction well, and it gives them trouble. It takes a long time for a rock dragon to open up, but once they do, they show their hearts of gold. Rock dragons get along well with metal dragons and, given time, water dragons.
