Middledark
The Middledark is a vast and treacherous region of the Underdark, extending from depths of 5 to 15 kilometers below the surface. It is a land of perpetual darkness, where only the faintest glimmers of bioluminescent fungi and crystals provide any source of light. The air is thick and stagnant, filled with the scent of damp earth and the musty aroma of decaying organic matter. The tunnels and caverns of the Middledark are labyrinthine and perilous, with winding passageways leading to unknown depths and dangerous predators lurking in every shadow.
Amidst the dangers of the Middledark, several cities have arisen, each with its own unique character and history. Kethgard, an ancient city of giants, once stood as a mighty stronghold of giant-kind and was renowned for its epic battles with dragons and other surface-dwelling races. Today, Kethgard lies abandoned and desolate, a haunting reminder of a once-great civilization. However, it is said that the ruins of Kethgard still hold many secrets and dangers for those bold enough to explore its depths.
Kheraak, on the other hand, is a city of treachery and corruption, where the pursuit of power and wealth has led the duergar down a dark and dangerous path. The duergar, a race of dark dwarves, have fallen under the sway of dark gods, and their once-great city has become a den of vice and depravity. Meanwhile, Quarvalsharess, ruled by the powerful House El'Ecthil, is a city of Drow, where a strict hierarchy of noble houses and a vast population of drow slaves shape daily life. The city is home to the Courtyard of Lolth, a temple of the spider goddess where drow priestesses and matron mothers wield great power. These cities, along with many others, make up the complex and dangerous world of the Middledark.
Raw Purple Crystals found in the Middledark are known to be more powerful than their red and blue counterparts. These crystals are said to contain pure magical energy, and those who possess them can tap into their vast potential to wield incredible power. Some believe that the crystals are remnants of ancient magic that has long been forgotten, while others speculate that they were created by the gods themselves.
The properties of the purple crystals are mysterious and vary from crystal to crystal. Some are said to grant the wielder the ability to teleport or even manipulate time, while others can enhance one's physical strength or imbue weapons with powerful magical properties. The most powerful purple crystals are rumored to grant the wielder god-like powers, allowing them to bend reality to their will.
