Time Stone

One of six Infinity Stones that grant their users control over some aspect of the Universe.

The Time Stone grants the weilder control over time, allowing infinite cost-free time travel in all directions, and the ability to undo past events, with only one limitation: the Stone cannot be used to undo events involving other Infinity Stones, as they are fixed points in the universe.

Following the death of Thanos, its location is known only to the Vision.

History

Early History

The Gardener, one of the Elders of the Universe, was the first known holder of what would eventually be identified as the Time Stone, using it to help create his gardens in otherwise desolate environments. According to legend, the Gardener discarded the Gem after he was forced to use it in combat, which made it a tool of destruction rather than creation, tainting it in his eyes.

Earth

At some unknown point, the Stone was brought to Earth, likely around 25,000 BCE as it is referenced in a carved relief found in the ruins of Nineveh, where it was sealed it inside the Eye of Agamatto in order to safely harness its power.

For the full history of the Stone after its containment within the Eye, see: Eye of Agamatto
