Tyrmdrihin

by Azgaar
Tyrmdrihin

General Description

Surprisingly business town with a mix of adventurers, traders, guards, and all their families. The skyline is pierced by the Tower Keep. Patrols are regular and it is clearly a military outpost but the town is doing well.

The People

Young men and women, who, even in casual every-day goings on, will wear the crest of the garrison if they're one of the Guards or the crest of the Rangers. There are many families going about their lives as well and they seem to avoid the more colorful characters: adventurers who've come to delve the hinterlands.

GM Notes

1-in-12 chance of Lefthand Friya being in the village, staying at the Tower Keep.

Factions

Rules for the Faction Game can be found here
The Rangers are considered stuck up - too good to mingle with the common Guards. The Rangers agree with that assessment.   The Rangers don't generally care what's going on in town so have little care about the River Merchants, despite the Guards insisting that something needs to be done about them.   Meanwhile, due to little funding, the Guards find themselves reliant on the River Merchants despite them being pretty sure that they're also the river pirates that attack their patrols.

    Relationships

    Kynobirtheim & Seigen's Stones

On the full moon, the men of Kynobirtheim and soldiers of Tyrmdrihin will visit the Seigen's Stones near midnight dance around wearing only wolf pelts. At the end, they slaughter a goat and eat it raw to please Seigen.

    Prensuchdt

The commander of Tyrmdrihin, Karl-Hionz, is the brother of a powerful woman in Prensuchdt (Sweets Anniloisi). He replaced the old commander, who is still stationed there and has a lot of soldiers loyal to him.

    Waldinhafin & Grynizilt

Both the Waldinhafin and the Tyrmdrihin recruit from Grynizilt and spend their off hours paling around in the town and getting into trouble. This has divided the town to the point where families are aligning with each.

    Sydlagir

The soldiers of Tyrmdrihin used to pay much more attention to Sydlagir until the coast road shut down and now they've pretty much abandoned at as not being strategically unimportant.

    Questions

    Why Here?

It's at a place in the river where you can easily off load stuff and send goods up the Sioti Valley.

    What Does the Fortification Provide?

Military patrols to the surrouding area, particularly the monster infested foothills of the border, a collective market for Kynobirtheim, Sydlagir, and Grynizilt

    What Does It Lack?

Stable population, which they overcome by recruting from Grynizilt

    What Threatens It?

Monster attacks, river bandits that are upstream, and a lack of funding.

    How does it Protect Itself?

The Tyrmdrihin Rangers hunt monsters, the Tyrmdrihin Guards hunt the river bandits with the help of the River Merchants.   The lack of funding is overcome by an over reliance on the market (and, by extension, the River Merchants)

    What Are the Norms?

Traditions, Beliefs, Religions, etc. What does the average person value? What are its Traditions? What beliefs does everyone have? What are the major and minor religions? How do the people see themselves?
