Alain am Lomanni is the Briar of Southridge and the last living brother of Lomain am Lomanni, the Duke of Lorancourt. As the Briar of Southridge, Alain has a seat on the King's High Council and a prominent voice in the running of the Realm.
Alain is the oldest son of Ansel am Lomanni, and the oldest brother of the Duke of Lorancourt. He fought in the Imesse - Colo War in 212 AF, as did his brother Rainar am Lomanni. Rainar was killed during the Battle of Nyallshold in single combat with Dylan Boyne, one of the young nobles fighting to defend the city against the Imessian army. Months later, while leading the last remnants of the army back into Imesse, Alain was faced with a troop of Colian cavalry flying a flag of truce. During the parlay, Alain met Dylan, who recounted the brave fight that Rainar had fought to protect his commander during the rout. To prove the truth of the tale, he presented Alain with the shards of his brother's sword
