His Royal Majesty, High King Max am Maxalli, III
Born October 18, 215 AF to Max II, High King of Imesse, and Queen Sabine. Max became High King at the sudden death of his father in 228 AF at the age of 13. His mother ruled as regent in his name until he was 16.
Max has always had all the luxury and privilege one would expect of an heir to a mighty kingdom, but has lacked any sort of emotional bonding that is required of a child growing up. Teachers and tutors he had aplenty, but mentors and friends he has lacked almost his entire life.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Young and strong, fit, tall and lean. At 18 years old, he is the picture of a stong and vibrant young monarch. A capable rider and much practiced at dueling and archery, but with no actual fighting experience at all.

Personal history
Born to a very authoritarian father and a domineering mother, Max did not enjoy a happy childhood. When his aged father passed away when he was only 13 years old, he was crowned High King with his mother acting as regent until he came of age. His mother was a very cold and controlling woman, and she would often go so far as to strike the High King in frustration when they were alone together. It was through the efforts of his cousin, King Mak II, that Max was allowed to rule in his own right at the age of 16.
Failures & Embarrassments
Perhaps Max's greatest failing is his refusal to even consider an arranged marriage. Max is young, an only child and he has not (yet) named an heir should anything happen to him. Were Max to die, the Kingdoms would be thrust into a crisis of almost unimaginable proportions.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Striving to be a good and just king, and to be independent in thought and action. Does not want to depend on others as his father did. Max is so determined to lead an independent life, he is often at risk of refusing or ignoring sound advice from people who genuinely care about him. His hesitancy to make decisions of any weight or import forces many of the nobles of the Kingdoms to seek decisions elsewhere, and this furthers the resentment and indecision he so struggles with.
Likes & Dislikes
Max is passionately against all attempts by his mother, Sabine, to arrange a suitable marriage for him. He resents the simple fact that his wants and desires are simply not considered to be valid at all. Of all the possible choices for a bride that have been mentioned by his mother (and others), the one that he is actually interested in is one he has only met a few times: Lillian Borri, the daughter of the Baron of Dunrick Gill am Borri. The Queen Mother is against the match because the girl's mother is an Ahmi from the Duchy of Len Doa and the father is the Baron of the poorest Barony in the entire Kingdoms.
Max, on the other hand, finds the quiet, plain-faced young lady absolutely fascinating.

Max has almost no close, personal relationships. He is distant and hostile to much of his family, including his mother, Sabine, and is reserved and resentful of his official advisors and counselors.
Family Ties
Max has a very complicated family tree, and he has very difficult relations with most of his blood relatives. He is openly hostile and resentful of his mother, he is very intimidated by his cousin, King Mak II of Lesser Imesse, and the confidence and social skills of Mak's children (many of whom are Max's age) also make him uncomfortable.
Wealth & Financial state
Even if he were not High King, Max is amazingly wealthy. His father, Max II, left his prsonal fortune to be divided between his son and his wife. Since becoming High King, he has been receiving the incomes of the Royal Domains of Northern Imesse every year, and his personal coffers contain no less than 50,000 guilders (the equivalent of $20 million in todays funds).
