Stone Dwarf

Stone Dwarves are less social than their Earth Dwarf cousins when it comes to interaction with other races. They leave that job to the Earth Dwarves and they continue on with their work. They can be quite social in Dwarven communities or festivities and when they are not working they do enjoy drinking or singing, sometimes both. They prefer to wear drab and plain clothes and their beards are kept long but tidy. It is not uncommon for a Stone Dwarf to tuck his beard in his shirt when working, for safety reasons, but they will always remove it at the first chance they get.   Both males and females are equal in Dwarven communities and Stone Dwarves are no different. Female Stone Dwarves will often let their beards grow but they seldom equal the length of a similarly aged male Dwarf. A shaven female is treated equally with a bearded female; it is simply a matter of personal taste.   Stone Dwarves marry for life but they tend to get married and start families earlier than Earth Dwarves. The clans of Stone Dwarves are more static than Earth Dwarves and most Stone Dwarves will follow in their family’s profession or be apprenticed out to other families to learn a new trade. The majority of Stone Dwarves know how to mine, even if it is not their primary trade. They all have a great appreciation for metals, ore and gems of all sorts and they trade them freely, except for the rare and special Rocksteel.   Stone Dwarf armourers and weaponsmiths prize Rocksteel above all else and a weapon or suit of armour made from it can be passed down from generation to generation. The secret to forging with Rocksteel is carefully guarded by the Dwarves and no other race knows how to forge with it. The materials for Rocksteel are rare but there has been a new major vein just recently found which should result in a greater number of weapons produced in the future. Regardless of how plentiful their supply is Stone Dwarves do not give Rocksteel items out to non-Dwarves very often and they almost never sell them. Gifts to heroes or persons who have given great aid to the clans of Denethen are the most common way a Rocksteel item will make its way into a non-Dwarf’s hands.
