King's Battalion

Knightly Faction

Josh Brooke
The King's Battalion is an order of Knights and a few Dames who reside within Gloomacre. They are a personal guard and military force to the King and are 100 strong at any one time. If a member dies during duty they are replaced within a day with the very best of either the Royal Guard or the King's Army. Being a member of the King's Battalion is a honor that most soldiers hope to achieve in their service however can be extremely dull if the realm is in good shape and they aren't needed. They train every day and are positioned throughout the city alongside patrols of the Guard, breaking contact with them if the Castle Bells are rung. To become a member you must be able to run from the South gate to the Castle within 20 minutes in full gear, an impressive feat to say the least.   Beliefs: 1. The King has the right to rule by bloodline, long may he reign. 2. The King is the figurehead of the people, we protect what he stands for. 3. Fight until your dying breath.   Goals: To never allow any ill doings be inflicted upon his majesty the King and to protect the Royal Family should anything short of pandemonium fall to the realm.

Military, Knightly Order

Allied Factions

Some members of the Battalion are stationed with the Guard throughout the city on a day to day basis, allowing them to keep in communication with each other incredibly easily. If you are a member of the Guard and a Battalion member is in your presence, they are the ones in charge. The Guard look up to the Battalion and majority of the Guard members wish to become a member of the Battalion.

Allied Factions

If ever there is a personal task that needs the attention of the King when he is otherwise preoccupied, the Lord's Alliance can stand in with members of the Battalion. These two faction are very closely related and you will find that the Battalion will also respond to the wishes of the Lords and Ladys, should they be put under their direct command.

Military Allies

Both of these factions, being of the servitude of a higher being and a King, share their ideals but for a different leader. They are easy to friendship because of this, despite the Elves seeing themselves as a higher race of nobility than Man (coming across arrogant at times).

Friendly Factions

These two factions are known for their protection and security abilities and see eye to eye when it comes to standing for what they represent. The EE does however see the Battalion as selfish due to them protecting only the select few, however know that for civilization to continue it needs a figurehead.

Friendly Factions

On a similar wavelength to the Lord's Alliance, the Order of the Gauntlet are friendly with the Battalion. This is because a few members are Nobles themselves and claim some of the reserve to have access to some of the Battalion at any one time. The Battalion is responsive to the higher members of the OG however would most likely be uncooperative if a lower ranked member were to be amongst them.

Utilizing Factions

The Battalion have their weapons and armor made by the Laborers Union in the 'Labour Sector'. They are made to a higher quality and build than that of the Royal Guard and the Military so whenever a contract for the Battalion comes to the Union, they prioritize it over others (of course because of the large payout as well).

Neutral

The Battalion and the Bracket do not stand against one another and do not have any need for one another so remain to this day fairly neutral. The Battalion doesn't utilize the Brackets innovative technology as they are prideful warriors who rely on their own strength and might to protect the King.

Neutral

The Harpers, not being of noble blood, are neutrally aligned when it comes to the Battalion - neither bothered nor concerned about them however do understand that the King does need his own safety net for attempts on his life and other family members. The Battalion know about the Harpers and can respect that they are a incredibly lawful and incorruptible faction.

Neutral Friends

The Platinum Templars are aware of what the Battalion has to offer however remains neutral to the fact. The King has his many guards and individuals who wish to protect him whereas the Templars have their knowledge of the arcane. The Battalion know that if one of the Templars wanted to incinerate the entire Castle of Gloomacre, they could - so there is an agreed upon friendship between the two factions.

Neutral Dislike

Whilst the Zhentarim know their goals are to encompass every possible sector of Civilization when it comes to contractors and private security, they know that the Battalion is something that will never be attainable without a revolution or death of the monarchy. The Battalion know this too and will look down upon the Zhentarim - one of the few, if not the only faction that can.

Unfriendly Factions

Much like the Royal Guard, the Battalion stands for nothing when it comes to law breakers, making it incredibly difficult for the Thieves Guild to operate within Gloomacre. There have been times when the Battalion have been assigned to remove the Guild's presence from the city and there have also been times where the Guild have stolen from the Battalion. If any two members were to meet, it would result in the Battalion member arresting the Guild member.

Aggressive Factions

The Battalion knows about the Graycrawlers being individuals of opportunity and will always try and arrest them if they are discovered. The Graycrawlers, being a faction that in the past have killed nobles and members of the King's Council, dislike the Battalion's diehard attitude to an individual who doesn't represent them.
