Laborer's Union

Faction of the lower class

Josh Brooke
The Laborer's Union is an incredibly large and widespread faction of lower class individuals pertaining specifically to those who use their hands and hone their skills in craft and smithing. This faction has finally been recognized as an established group after many decades of being oppressed and inciting mild revolutions within the realm. The lower class now stand by each others side in union against tyranny and exploitation. The majority of laborers are a part of this faction as it means they can call on members to help with fulfilling contracts, defending court cases and also even in brawls or disagreements with other factions or organizations.   Beliefs: 1. Divided, we are exploited. Together, we are union. 2. Your craft defines your worth, your worth does not define your craft. 3. A sword is oppressive, a hammer is creative; craft don't destroy.   Goals: To unite all craftsmen and laborers in unity among the realm, to further our reach and obtain equality between societal class and to make sure no individual goes under-appreciated or underpaid for their craft.

Structure

1. Laborer 2. Contractor 3. Representative 4. Congressman 5. Royal Union Senator (1 person)

Public Agenda

To unite all craftsmen and laborers in unity among the realm, to further our reach and obtain equality between societal class and to make sure no individual goes under-appreciated or underpaid for their craft.

Craft & Family. United.

Guild, Craftsmen

Friendly Factions

The Thieves Guild is an underground network that helps supply mercenaries and even bandits with black market weaponry. The Union creates this supply of goods, the Guild buys the gear and then sells it on for profit to individual parties. The Union is technically not the ones doing anything illegal so have no issue supplying it to the Guild, it all depends on whether the member of the Union you are talking to respects the need for the military or not.

Friendly Factions

The Union is the supplier for nearly all armor and weaponry for the Order of the Gauntlet. They are incredibly appreciative and show their thanks by sending representatives around the forge and smithing districts within the cities and towns; healing, restoring and aiding the Union to the best of their ability whilst also sharing in the knowledge of their deities and patrons. The Union is mostly thankful for the restoration and healing as a lot of accidents happen within the laboring districts.

Near-Allied Factions

These two factions are incredibly alike due to the Artificers Bracket essentially being an independent conclave of advanced laborers. This near alliance is only quelled by the Bracket's refusal to join the Union due to certain policies within; preventing any member to independently seek out their own contracts rather than going through the approval of a Union Representative. This is essentially to protect the laborers from unfair large scale deals or ongoing contracts.

Working Friends

The LU help provide specialized weapons and armor for the ST, using the Elven smithing method of 'Light Steel', mixing in magical forging to set blades ready for implementation to weapons. The ST rely heavily on the knowledge of other races to create weaponry that surpasses that of simple iron or leather and stone.

Friendly Factions

Due to the nature of the Zhentarim and the Laborers Union being both aspects of the lower tiers of society (Overtly), they are friends and will help each other out in certain situation should they arise. The Union being suppliers of weaponry, armor and items means the Zhentarim have their contracts in certain areas of the realm with them and in dire times of need when the Union may be threatened or have another faction perhaps showing a little too much aggression, the Zhentarim are known to intimidate and stop any threatening behavior from opposing factions.

Utilizing Factions

The Battalion have their weapons and armor made by the Laborers Union in the 'Labour Sector'. They are made to a higher quality and build than that of the Royal Guard and the Military so whenever a contract for the Battalion comes to the Union, they prioritize it over others (of course because of the large payout as well).

Neutral

Because the Laborers Union and the Emerald Enclave rarely cross each others paths, they hold no resentments against each others doings or deeds. The Enclave tends to operate in isolation and the Union is a party of many people grouped together. Despite the Union being pro civilization and pro trade, the Enclave doesn't see them as evil or chaotic, rather than just another group within the walls of man who don't appreciate fully, the aspects of nature.

Neutral

Due to the nature of the Platinum Templars, they don't tend to interact with the Laborers Union very often as they are masters of the arcane and if need anything forged, smithed, crafted etc. would most likely be more inclined to see a member of the Artificer's Bracket.

Utility Factions

The Harpers are known for their preference of being within the middle to higher tiers of society whereas the Union is known for representing the lower tiers and sometimes even the slums. The Harpers sometimes require the Union to recreate weaponry, armor, artifacts, misc etc. using older metals and ancient ways of forging so as to pull information from the items on how they were utilized in previous eras or even pre era. The Union doesn't usually take kindly to the Harpers thinking they are above them however and if two members were to meet, there would possibly be some frustration within conversation.

Unfriendly Factions

Due to a few deaths of some laborers in the last decade or so, confirmed kills of the Graycrawlers, these two factions aren't the best of friends. Whilst the Graycrawlers consider these deaths 'just another contract' the Union takes it personally and as a betrayal after supplying the Crawlers with weapons and armor previously. Due to these deaths and the considered betrayal, the Graycrawlers now have to acquire most of their gear through the Artificer's Bracket, the Royal Guard OR by simply faking credentials. The Union dont like being taken as fools however due to the nature of some of their members, they usually are just that.

Unfriendly Factions

The Lord's Alliance, being of higher tier within society, do indeed look down upon the Union and will usually not deal with them if they can avoid it. The Lord's and Royals know that when you have a large group of people unionized together, they can cause issues for the bourgeoisie - especially if that group supply you with your weapons and armor. The Union dislike the Lord's Alliance as they fail to appreciate the effort they put in to creating their items. This being said, the Union has a contract with the LA and they pay well for their weaponry.

Unfriendly Factions

Even though the Laborers Union supplies the King and his Guard with their weaponry and armor, they aren't treated nicely by the Guard. They consider themselves above the laborers and have mild power trips being able to boss them around and tell them what to do. A member of the Guard could quite easily go and get his sword sharpened whilst on patrol without any consequence and the Union member would have to oblige. However, this would be a risky gamble as the Union would have every right to strike back with legal action should they get enough of a following for the call for exile.
