Platinum Templars

Magocracy

Josh Brooke
The Platinum Templars are a magocracy encompassing the entirety of The Gentle Vales as well as the lands beyond. Only one member resides in the Vales to perform the wishes of Azuth, god of wizards and Mystra, goddess of magic (other deities are worshipped at the members preference). This faction holds incredible significance and dates back to the Spellplague, during which Mystra was killed and the weave ceased to work. The PT are few and far between and rarely have to actually interact with each other unless desperate times are called for.   They stand to protect the weave at all costs and make sure no shadow weave user corrupts it ever again. When two members meet they can spend hours discussing topics of interest before even greeting each other as friends.   Beliefs: 1. All forms of magic are pure, it is the user who defines it. 2. Study and patience are the true forms of success. 3. Protecting the weave should be your first priority over friends, family and companions.   Goals: To make sure that the interactions and the study of the arcane is pure, uncorrupted and safe. To encourage its users to do lawful and good deeds and prevent the rise of the Evil Gods influence within the research of Magic.

Structure

1. Mage 2. Archmage 3. Grand Wizard 4. Oracle 5. High Arcanist

Public Agenda

To work behind the curtain at maintaining the connection between man and the arcane and culling any attempt of weave destruction.

Magic will die when Man has no need for it.

Type
Geopolitical, Magocracy

Allied Factions

As the Emerald Enclave is essentially the druidic version of the Platinum Templars, these two factions are closely relatable in many ways. Despite the EE having more members around the realms, they respect the Magocracy in place when it comes to the PT. The PT are closely affiliated with the EE due to them protecting the more 'wild' and 'natural' forms of magic.

Allied Factions

The Order of the Gauntlet and the Platinum Templars are incredible friends and will help each other out on their endeavors to the best of their ability. The PT coming along on quests and adventures with the OG if they are in need of an escort, backup or just someone to carry their things. This can include material gathering (something as simple as going on a quest to find a rare mountain flower or certain type of ore from another state).

Allied Factions

These two factions are known for their commitments to knowledge, the Harpers known for keeping an archive and the PT for keeping Arcane Scrolls. The PT don't utilize the Harpers very often or directly, unless under an immeasurable need to access public records. The Harpers are very fond of the PT as they allow them access to the knowledge of the arcane to keep in the restricted section of their archives and libraries.

Friendly Factions

These two factions are both known for their arcane knowledge and their applications of it to their work, because of this they have become friendly factions over the recent century or two. The Bracket look up to the PT as masters of their craft and the PT look down to the Bracket as if they are apprentice types, slowly and surely learning and educating themselves via trial and error rather than years of study and research - because of this, there are times when the PT have to keep close eyes on them in case of any unwanted meddling with the weave or shadow weave.

Neutral

The PT and the ST know of each other however remain indifferent due to their commitment to the two different types of magic and worship to different deities. The PT have utilized the ST within the Elven DoL previously to study and research certain areas of the Elven Domain, including excavations and temples to different deities.

Neutral

Whist the Graycrawlers dislike power, they recognize that when it comes to Mystra and the weave, it should be monitored, ideally by an individual who knows enough about it. Because of this, it is why the two factions are neutral to each other. The PT don't disagree with what the Graycrawlers do so do not interfere.

Neutral Factions

The Lord's Alliance is an incredibly jealous faction when it doesn't achieve the 'fame' it thinks it deserves for certain deeds done and whilst they look up to the Platinum Templars, they don't understand how one member can be so revered and have people near enough worship the ground they walk on. This causes interesting interactions with the PT usually outsmarting the LA in conversation.

Utility Factions

Whilst the Zhentarim have no use for the PT they recognize they are a faction of immense power and hold within the realm. The PT also recognize the Zhentarim almost as a 'necessary evil' that amass and lose power and influence as often as the weather changes. When the Order of the Gauntlet won't help with a quest or certain task that the PT need completing due to the aligning nature of the task then the Zhentarim is used to get the job done, even if the PT dislike the members views and beliefs.   The PT are aware that this opposing faction utilizes the evil gods and keeps a very close eye on them. "Keeps your friends close but your enemies closer".

Neutral

Due to the nature of the Platinum Templars, they don't tend to interact with the Laborers Union very often as they are masters of the arcane and if need anything forged, smithed, crafted etc. would most likely be more inclined to see a member of the Artificer's Bracket.

Neutral

The Platinum Templars are known for not being socially active however the Enigma Spire resides within the human capitol so the Platinum Templars appreciate the attempt at security. Truth being that the PT wouldn't need security even if the most evil individual sought to destroy them. They are aware of each others existence and the Guard will sometimes be called to deliver news to Prof Amazz in his tower.

Neutral Friends

The Platinum Templars are aware of what the Battalion has to offer however remains neutral to the fact. The King has his many guards and individuals who wish to protect him whereas the Templars have their knowledge of the arcane. The Battalion know that if one of the Templars wanted to incinerate the entire Castle of Gloomacre, they could - so there is an agreed upon friendship between the two factions.

Unfriendly Factions

Due to the Thieves Guild having stolen an artifact of importance to Prof. Amazz a few years ago and selling it on to a noble for a profit, their relationship between factions has decreased somewhat since. The PT dislike theives for this very reason as they see it as petty crime, profiting where others cannot and on the flip side the Guild sees the PT as individuals who have too many material things for what they do.
