The Gap

The only water route for trade between the western and eastern nations of Tremalking, it is often harried and patrolled by tribes of Vaskerry reavers.
The Eastern Gap is located past the Straits of Northumber, which is the narrowest point in the Gap, but still four miles across. It empties out into the Acean Sea. On the West, the Gap splits between the Lesser Gap and the Greater Gap. The Lesser Gap, though bigger and safer to travel, is called so due to the heavy tolls the Senderians place on travesing its waters. Those who wish to avoid these payments choose to take the Greater Gap, the more northernly route. Though it is dangerous due to monstrousities and Vaskerry raiders, and half the year covered in large ice sheets, you don't have to deal with the tools.
Though patrols of ships from the bordering civilized nations do their best to keep it safe for trade, it is still a risk to travel.
Should you choose to take the straight, be sure to sail armed.
