Long Bay

The two-parts bay has been used as the main harbor of Irgia Republic for merchants and the navy to station their valuable vessels.

Geography

The bay has two parts; The outer part which connects the Irgian Channel, and the inner part where the capital settles, smaller then the former. Both are only divided by a strait.

The mountains surround the whole bay except the north side that connects to the Gate Lowland with temperate woods scattering. The freshwater from Sarrim and Erkim rivers flow downstream to the bay as well.

Several towns are formed as numerous ships come in every years, all of which has at least one port.

Strait of Steel

The bridge were built across the strait to connect all coastal cities from the other side of the capital, making an alternative way of travelling and defence.

Speaking of defence, lighthouses and towers were built around them to ensure its security among outsider. In fact, it is one of the most protected place after the Wall of Irgian. Warships patrolling the bay also secure another layer of protection. Recently, the cannons importing from Valonia Empire were installed on both towers and warships.

Natural Resources

Saltwater fishes, one of staple foods among Irgs, come from this bay.

History

During the late Second Channel War, all major Irg fleets protecting the bay, as well as many defenses, were defeated by Valonian warships, the alliance turned enemy, and entered the Long Bay. It was the first time enemy ships blockage the bay since 110 BVE by Maritime Kingdom.

Combining with the land invasion, the capital became starving and not long before it surrendered. The ship parked along the long bay harbors was until the Treaty of Irisone were signed, in which Valonian fleets finally retreated, marking the fall of Irgia Republic.

Tourism

The Long Bay allow Irgs to trade outside the continent through the Irgian Channel which then connects to Esparia and Rectjaw oceans, and Ronminar Isles. It is one of the important trade nodes alongside Valone, Gulf of Arcwood, and Sria, the former republic colony.

I love a long bay. :) I like the image of bridges and lighthouses along it. :)
