T'Chaka

King T'Chaka

T'Chaka I was King of Wakanda from 1981 until 2014.

While king, he ordered the death of his younger brother, Prince N'Jobu, for his part in Ulysses Klaue's theft of Wakandan Vibranium.

These actions would eventually result in a succession crisis when N'Jobu's son, N'Jadaka returned to Wakanda and challenged King T'Challa for his throne.

In 2014, T'Chaka was speaking at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on the subject of international mining regulation, when the building was bombed by the Winter Soldier, on the orders of Richard Fisk.

T'Chaka was killed in the explosion, along with 7 other people.

He was succeeded on the throne by his son, T'Challa.

Morality & Philosophy

T'Chaka considered the role of king to be a grave responsibility, and did not consider himself or his family to be above the law, having his own brother executed for conspiring with Ulysses Klaue to steal Vibranium from the Mena Ngai, which resulted in the deaths of several Wakandans.

Although he had begun to make steps towards Wakanda joining the wider international community, he maintained the illusion of the country as poor and isolationist. He was in many ways a traditionalist, and abandonned his nephew N'Jadaka to fend for himself after his father's execution, because he feared the consequences of bring a child who was not of pure Wakandan blood into the Golden Tribe.

Reign

He served as King of Wakanda from 1981 until his death in 2014. His reign was marked by a gradual opening up of Wakanda to the outside world, increased participation in international organisations such as the United Nations and African Union, goodwill aid missions to other African nations, and increased use of the Hatut Zeraze to combat injustice, rather than simply defend Wakanda's interests.

The great crisis was his reign was the infiltration of Wakandan borders by Ulysses Klaue. Klaue stole a considerable amount of Vibranium from the Mena Ngai, and killed several Wakandans, both guards at the mine and members of the Border Tribe. When T'Chaka discovered Klaue had been assisted by his brother, Prince N'Jobu, he had N'Jobu executed, but was not able to bring Klaue to justice.
