the 5th of Aestrun
The first of our wind-down days.
I am on my way with Liya to some of the taverns in town to sell her famous Maple Leaf beer. We manage to sell some to a man named Donne, to which a proof sample will be delivered. With some messages send by Thalmiir we hope all will be organised as needed.
At dinner, we hear that Thalmiir and Erky have created some kind of artefact together, a so-called Musket. I am not sure how it works but it looks fancy.
William had been practising his horseriding skills with Derk (his new white horse) and has bought a lance.
I had missed it this morning, but Copper has woken up instead of Ferrum. I am not sure what he has done today, he had a booklet with drawings with him.
I have put my letter and package on the way towards Jordberg and finally Mercia. I hope that they will arrive safely, it cost me 16gp.
I have started to record the music I hear. I hear it faintly all the time, but it is the clearest when I go to sleep. The melody also seems to be more complex.

Today, I have locked myself in my room and practised my ritual spells. I asked Thalmiir about how he does it and if there is any trick to do it well. I have taken a lot of time to do this and I feel much more confident about it now. Perhaps I will go and look for more spells to cast this way. Sadly there is no library in town.
Today Erky build a mechanical dog. He calls it schroefbout but it has gained the unofficial name 'Pipa' for some reason. Erky seems to be doing a lot better after having some days off.
the 7th of Aestrun
Thalmiir has started constructing parts for a bridge across the ravine. He had spotted some large doors when he had fallen down and wanted to investigate it a bit more. I am quite curious to go and look, tho a bit hesitant after the last encounter and the consequences it had afterwards. But I helped him out today and took some more time in the evening to study. I am getting better at playing the Bards tune aswell.
The 8th of Aestrun.
Today we are going back to the mines. After talking with Matilda for a bit, and Thalmiir going back and forth for some official paperwork, we enter the cave with our bridge parts. With some help from hired forces, we construct the bridge and find our way down.
As I shatter the door open, we enter a large staircase, in which we found quite some protective enchantments.
From glave wielding 12ft tall statues that we climbed over to cross, to large boulders falling from the ceiling to crush Liya.
As we found our way down we came across an octagon-shaped room with a basin and four pillars in the middle. William senses holy energy from here, and we, of course, decide to investigate.
There were several tubes going from the basin to different rooms.
As we investigated, Erky and Thalmiir found out that these pipes provide magical energy to the pond to create a portal to Oghma, the goddess of knowledge and invention. With some keen following skills and by opening some strange tombs, we find the switches to turn on the different tubes to the central basin.
During this search, we are nearly crushed by collapsing tunnels, burned to crisps from explosions and life tapped from ghostly creatures. The second event caused me and Liya to be out for a second, but not long enough for me to see the Bard again.
After opening the portal, which makes the bright blue water of the pond turn black like a starry sky, we decide to take a short time to catch our breath. We talk a bit and Copper invites me to help him with a ritual to connect to his patron. It is a strange but very interesting ritual in which I hear some things and discuss some patron-gossips with Copper.
Nearing the end of this relax-time, a voice reaches out to us in our mind. Telling us we can ask any question we want, and that we shall receive an answer.
Totally overwhelmed by this, I ask a few questions regarding my patron. And I learn that the Bard is indeed always listening, present but rarely answers. I will just have to wait and see what comes to my path.
I am curious to know what the others have asked. I hope we will talk about it as we continue our travels.
After this endeavour, we return to our inn. Where I give Copper some Sulphur for his ritual, which he wishes to try once again next to the lava stream. Erky and Thalmiir are suspicious and go with him back to the mountain.
After Copper has a successful commune with his patron, Thalmiir and Erky step in the small magical boat that is drifting on the lava stream. They paddle away and find a large open cavern. This is the point where I got messaged by Thalmiir to take William and Liya and come back to the cave, where we are now. Waiting on Copper, William, Thalmiir and Erky to return paddling back with their new homemade paddle and musket after losing the original paddle.
We shall see where this goes.
