10th day in the feywild - continued

But yes, that was what we did, and now we have got the phoenix in our small bottle! We just told Baradox the whole story. It was quite the story for the two days we have not seen him. It feels much longer though. It feels like the idea of time is slowly escaping my grasp. It could have been one week here, two, or two months even. I am actually starting to miss sunrise and sleeping in the dark. But anyhow, Brynjar is introducing himself to Baradox now, after that, we will go back to the cave with the portal with the Highwind. If the ship fits through the cavern, we will travel via the portal to the Sapphire mountain. Should work, and would save us a lot of time!

It was the fasted trip we had with the Highwind. Literally, a flash and we had arrived. At the Sapphire mountain, we spoke to Siadarnivax, he showed us the Ever Ice we had wished for at the Emerald King. Compared to the dragon, the shards seem quite small, but they are at least 1.5m high. But we now have Siadarnivax protecting both the ice and the phoenix, so we should be safe.
The next step day on our journey will be the Elemental Prince. A strange figure we know little about, but according to Siadarnivax, he knows a lot. They do not seem to be on good terms somehow. Perhaps they fear each other's knowledge? or envy it? I am not sure. We now at least know that he himself has no special abilities, but there is something about him. He has these powerful maps with the locations of the next two elemental beings, and people tend to enter there but not leave. It sounds odd, there must be something off about that place. But Siadarnivax is happy to provide us with a form of the crystals that will help prevent any psychic damage that might befall us.

We just decided that before we go towards the Dragon Spine Mountains, we are going to take a day or two to ourselves. I do not mind, it will be good to have a full night of sleep without keeping watch or feeling people enter and leave the dome. It will also give me and Ferrum some time to brew some potions, it has been a while! Hope I am not too bad out of practice!

Some plans were made for the following days. some are going to go on a walk, while others sit down to draw.

11th and 12th day in the Feywild

I did not have much time to write, Ferrum and I have been with our head at the potions. We have made three potions of psychic resistance! The liquid has a nice shine to it, so we think they will be just fine!

Other things that happened these past two days, well Liya and Brynjar went to get beer. Not here, in Sarton! They only had like an hour or so to get it, because, for an hour there, a day passes here if I remember correctly. But they came back with a whole bag of holding filled with Maple Beer! It must have cost them quite a few gold pieces to get that thing filled up to the brim. But I must admit, it was nice. We enjoyed having a drink together after all that action the past few days. We realised we still had not quite taken the time to really get to know Brynjar or to process all the things that happened.

Ferrum and I also talked about Thalmiir. How we miss him quite a lot, and how we should spend his money. We thought about starting a kind of funding. We joked about it being for dwarves who cannot afford proper armour. The Rubyeye fund. It was nice to remember him that way.

Anyway. William also showed us a few of his drawings, they look quite nice! It is mostly landscapes and mountains. However, he plays with the perspective somehow. The images seem right, but when you look a bit longer, you start to see it just does not add up. It is really odd and must require quite some technique, I for sure cannot draw like that! I wonder what more talents this guy hides from us though. Not in a shady way, I just think he is slow in opening up.

Same would go for Brynjar, I still know little about him. When we met him, he said something about being from the Prime Order or something, and he told a bit about his mercenary work, but that is it. Well, I suppose it is understandable, we have only known him for like, four days.

13th day in the Feywild.

We are back on the Highwind. The ship had some upgrades and has a few additional crystals now! The hit from the time we went to the stone giants is almost not visible anymore. But the journey is cold, and we are heading north. We will not go in a straight line towards the Emerald Prince, but we will visit the Emerald King first. It is a bit under a days travel towards the Dragon Spine Mountains, and the King will be an additional stop.

On our way there, I have mostly been writing some stories about Thalmiir, and watching the sky. It did not feel like a long trip. But soon we stood at the edge of the forest of the Emerald Kings land once again. It looked different now, lighter, friendlier. We once again followed the path through the forest. I can almost forget how angry and annoyed I had been the first time we passed through these woods. Back then, I would have liked to slash every single tree down, to leave a path like the path that turtle created and is creation. But now, the forest is softly radiating a sense of calm. It is the direct opposite of what it used to be. Odd how quickly that can change.

The Emerald King was very welcoming. He offered us to stay and eat, which we gladly accepted. We talked a bit about the Elemental Prince who we are going to visit, and inquired him if he knew anything about the guy. We just learned that he does not like what the Prince has done to the place, and that he keeps to himself. The Prince dislikes losing things, that is it. The King however strongly urges us to keep him alive, at all cost. Why exactly we are not sure about, the Emerald King was not very clear about it. It was something like "If he dies 'it' will take over again". Apparently, something very bad would happen that would literally cause hell.

The rest of the evening is simple chatter, in combination with some heavy emotions. Liya offers the King some beer from the Beer bag, and the King tells us that Pen the Satyr went on his way to have an adventure of his own, he will give him our regards when he returns. At the end of the dinner, while we packed some stuff for Baradox, William and Ferrum walked towards the vine and armour statue of Thalmiir. They lit a candle there for him. After a moment of collective silence, we thanked the King for his hospitality and let ourselves out.

The rest of the journey was calm. We ruminated on the information we had gotten from the King and watched the skies and horizons closely for cloud giants hurling rocks and for the supposedly strange building the Emerald King supposedly build. Around what I think would have been our 'evening' we finally got a good look at our target: the Emerald Princes home. It was unlike anything we had seen here yet. A giant, black and gold, floating upside-down pyramid floated above a hole of a similar shape. Three thin lines of gold seemed to form four different levels in the structure, while the point pointing down seemed to be fully gold. Directly below it, something like a dark red platform reflected some of the evenings light. Baradox was not comfortable landing on top of the pyramid, which is completely understandable. He, therefore, landed on the edge of the forest, on a safe distance from the strange building. After a few meaningful looks and good luck wishes, we packed our stuff and went out to see what the Emerald Prince would want for his precious information.

Before going in, Ferrum sat down and cast something, to see if what we are going to do is a good idea or something. I am not sure if he got any clear answer, but we just continued our journey. However, our short walk to the front door of the complex was interrupted by a small gold creature which sat, crying, on the open field before the bridge towards the pyramid. It was a small golden kobold. After some assurance, broken draconic and mind-talk, we got to know his name: Xal. He invited us to come into the pyramid, so that he may enter the building again. He had been sent to get some new people apparently, so he can only return to his friends if he brings someone with him, which was why he was so sad. We looked at each other and decided that it would not be that bad of an idea to walk in with him. It may be less weird that way? The bridge seemed the only way in, and out, anyway. And thus, we made Xal extremely happy as we walked inside with him.
