8th day in the feywild - continued
After landing, Liya and William went for a parameter check and they have not returned. Ferrum and I are a little worried but think they might have just forgotten the time a bit. We decide to leave a mark and wait for them a little bit further up the mountain. As we make our way, Baradox makes the Highwind disappear with some kind of illusion magic, and says he will wait for us there.
Ferrum and I decide to just make our way up the mountain together, leaving some marks for our teammates along the way. Hoping they would follow. If only I could use sending or some kind of spell, that would have been really useful. Anyhow, these stairs are steep and Ferrum is waiting so let us continue.
We met someone new. During our walk up the stairs, we were surprised by a strange creature with multiple heads charging out of a cavern while attacking a man. He was having some trouble fighting him off, so we jumped in to help. After some flying, slashing and blasting, the man lands on our side. He introduced himself as Brynjar from the Prima Order. He has been sent by Roberta to aid us, but the teleportation spell did not work quite as accurate as hoped, dropping him right in the nest of this chimaera. He seems like an okay guy, he did have a strange green glowing sword, but that proved quite useful in this fight. And, if Roberta trusts him, why should we not?
Together we take a look at the chimaera's body. Brynjar seems to be quite adept in the arcana. He and Ferrum could really connect with that. They cut out the bladder or something, they say it holds a quite potent venom. After working on this, we decide to check out the cavern the creature came from. As Brynjar sneaks forward while Ferrum and I discussed this strange encounter.
Brynjar returned not much later and asked us to follow. Quietly we followed him into the mountain. The cavern seemed much deeper than we had originally thought, and it brought us to quite a large room. There were a lot of small plateaus and staircases around, carved from the stone and only the soft glow of a couple of large crystals scattered around the room gave us some light to see. Most prominently was the white, dead tree that stood in this high room. It reflected the low light quite well, with how bright white it was. . Further into the room, we find a couple of small devilish creatures, who were not too happy with our arrival. As Brynjar walked up to talk to them, he was bitten and this started a fight. The balance in this battle was quickly tipped over to the side of the tiny creatures as the crystals started to glow, and a glowing white portal opened up right before me. From this, a kind of cyclops emerged. This large creature, who had a large purple ball in its head for an eye, quite quickly started attacking us. With a purple laser, it nearly transformed Brynjar into stone before our eyes. Luckily, Brynjar was able to break this glowing orb with one of his arrows as Ferrum slashed into the creature. A little bit later, the legs that had turned to solid rock, slowly regained a regular leg texture. (Quite happy I did not have to experience that)
Now we are just relaxing for a bit. We just checked out the rest of this room. We found a skeleton hanging on a kind of turning wheel, it looked kind of eery. Next to that, we found some potions, some dust of dryness and a couple of small diamonds. Oh, and Ferrum found a small rag doll... he took care of it professionally: with fire.
Turning the skeleton wheel caused something very very cool if I may say so. We found out that, when thinking of a place, and turning the wheel, it opens up a portal to that place. With Odin, the bird familiar of Brynjar, we tested if this portal goes both ways and it does! It does only bring you places that you have seen thought, so that is something to keep in mind. But this would be a great fleeing route if we ever have the need.
Ferrum, after a little inspection of the tree, said he suspects the tree of being a Gate Tree, which amplifies the effect of the portal. It was something with the lay lines of magic I believe.
With that inspection of the room finished, I thought it would be time to get some rest. I think we have been up for quite a long time, but perhaps it was just the travel here that tired us out the most.
9th day in the Feywild
With one final sweep of this strange cavern and our breakfast behind us, we made our way back to the steps. There are soo many and it is quite frankly quite tiring. I would rather walk through a forest for a whole day than up these stairs for an hour. But my naggin aside, Odin flew up the mountain to see what is up there, and using the sight of his familiar, much like I do with Mina, he could explain to us what he saw. It looked like quite a calm village. But just to be sure, Brynjar went ahead to scout.
When he returned, he told us about the village and the two sides, and the large fence around it. He had not been able to understand the language the people spoke, but perhaps they also understood common. Thinking that was the most info we were going to get for now, we decided to just make our way there and ask.
The Yakfolk are really cool people. I may, or may not, be a little bit inebriated... The people who live here were more than friendly, and they invited us as their guests. We were brought to meet their village leader Karthakaya. In his hut in the middle of the western portion of the village, it was nice and comfy: lots of pillows, a nice fire and overall a relaxed ambience. When we entered there, we realised just how cold it was outside. Tingly hands and all. After settling down and telling a couple of our stories- how we got here and what we were planning to do- they served us some food, all veggies, which they proudly stated were all grown here. Using the heat of the mountain and the water from the source here. Then a pipe with some herbs in it was passed around. I had smoked something before but this must have well affected me quite much because I think I must have fallen asleep... It was just all quite comfy, even though we had slept not too long before.
