24th of Irawish

Session notes 14-09-2019

by Nimueh of Mercia

24th of Irawish

We woke up on the island today, it's a tropical island, and it got quite cold tonight.

Vida and Liya stay on the boat, chilling in the semi-nice weather.

There is a path leading from the beach to the forest. On this road, we meet a rock, who turns out to be a tortoise.
Tortoise = Mudcraw. (he is old for a tortoise, 44)

The path splits in two.
On the left, there is a statue: 2 arms, 2 tentacles, broad head and horns, shield on his back. (which turns out to be 'NOT' 'MAGICAL' )

We continue the path on the right, with Mudcraw.
---> COPPER SEES SOMETHING --> Small man with a mask, or a mask being a man? It is not a mask it is its head, it is completely black except for two vertical white lines over his/her head.
No idea what it is, but it seems friendly. Seems to pay attention to Copper.
No reaction from spoken words nor telepathic ones.
The creature, which we have named Ugo, does not leave the forest as we walk into an open space.
Gives copper a headbutt?
Open space is a long deserted campsite.

The temple was not much further.

Thalmiir opens the door to the temple, a lizard awakens and is quickly slain by everyone.
The temple itself is abandoned, it's very dusty and the clashing of the waves echos inside.

During our exploring we find several items:
a small statute of a shark-mermaid lady holding a trident., it shines with abjuration magic Thalmiir tells us. I am not entirely sure what that means, but it looks quite nice.
there is a fountain in another room, shaped like a crab. again Thalmiir takes some time to figure out what it does and tells us that if you say a prayer to umbralee (the sea goddess to which this temple is dedicated) you will gain 24h of water breathing, but if you damage the pond in any way, you will be polymorphed into a crab.
William, as a paladin of the pantheon, decides to take a moment to speak with Umbralee.

While he is taking his time, copper and I try to find our way to the next room. very subtly we break one of the windows to the balcony so that copper can fit through to go to the throne room via the balcony. This was happening while William said to Umbralee that we were here to clean up the temple, very clever of us.

In the throneroom, Thalmiir once again takes the lead and sits down on the throne. With the power invested by the throne, he changes the weather and then turns himself into an octopus.
Continuing our way into the temple, we enter several rooms:
Some kindly greet us with a sudden spray of intense cold, while others are more welcoming with a whole bunch of keys and nice sets of clothes.
In the hall connecting these rooms, there are fancy looking glowing orbs. The moment that Copper touches one, he gets teleported to an unknown location.
As soon as Erky sees this happening, he follows. Next up William, and Thalmiir disappear in the same way.
Having no idea what happened, and after everyone but Mudcraw have gone, I decide to follow suit.

When I arrive, I find myself in a large cave opening, there is a large statue of a Kraken and I hear the waves much closer than before.
It seems to me that a battle has taken place, but the tread has already been dealt with.
William and Erky look ill, pale and exhausted. Coppers eyes glow fiercer than before and Thalmiir looks both tired and proud.

With a bit of good timing, a fly spell and a lot of luck, we find our way back to the temple via either a rope bridge or the cave created by the waves.
(Copper got dragged along with the waves, but he can fly??)

After all this, we decide to take a bit of time to catch our breath. in which i took the time to write all this down.
