The 28th of Irawish
Ferrum is staying awake, and it is getting the better of him. This morning he suddenly ran off, away from the forest only for us to pick him up later to join us on the cart once again. Before we leave our camp, William casts a spell and a white horse appears for us to ride.
The day goes by slowly, we suspect to arrive in Conwy tomorrow evening.
I try to connect with the Bard before falling to sleep, there is a connection, just not very strong.
The 1st of Aestrun
Traveling traveling with the cart. Keeping watch. Ferrum decides to sleep tonight, also wakes up as Ferrum again.
The 2nd of Aestrun
Conwy is getting close, slowly but surely we see more and more houses appear in the distance. What is interesting is the fact that most of the houses are built from metal instead of from wood. It is a curious sight to see. What we know about the city is that its main business is salt. The Closa family started the mines in 621 and it has been a wanted product ever since. The salt is shipped all over the world.
We spend the night in a tavern called Gilda Malfr's Inn. The owner is Gilda, a human female. She serves us a lovely hunters pie, while Liya is annoyed about the fact that they do not sell their maple beer.
We overhear a conversation talking about "Red Stars", but none of us has any idea what they are talking about.
The 3rd of Aestrun
Today we have a calm day in Conwy. Some people are forging new parts of armour while I am writing a letter home. I found it important to send them something, I haven't let them hear anything from me since leaving Baferton. And I have been carrying the wooden blocks fo Ciaran since leaving Beidon. I have spent some time with Liya in the tavern and then got picked up by Thalmiir and Ferrum.
They heard about some issues in the mine, one of the tunnels had apparently collapsed and they wanted to go and investigate. Here we meet Mathilda
Together we leave to visit the Fila mines. At the entrance of the mine we find Mathilda the Gray. She is a strong looking lady and after some persuading, Thalmiir is allowed to enter the mine for a short inspection. He quickly analyses the stonework and determines the cause of the collapse.
With this new information, we leave and meet with the owners of the mine and offer our services to the family. We will kill the beast that is causing the tunnels to break down for 4000gp total and he will add two bags of 'Stars' (probably salt). A deal is made and we leave to gather the rest of the party for the next day.
The 4th of Aestrun
Together we leave for the Fila mines. We walk for some time until we find one of the tunnels dug by the animal that is causing the trouble. Erky slips down this tunnel and is soon followed by the rest of us.
We arrive at a cliffside, approximately 100ft above a river of Lava. There is a 30ft gap and a 30ft drop between this plateau and the next. And as we are thinking about how we are going to cross this ravine, Erky has already cast a spell and jumped over the ravine. It is at this point, we realise he has fucked up. On his side of the river, the Bulette appears. With no way to get to the other side, I try to blast some spells at the creature, while Ferrum uses the immovable rod and a cleverly placed rope to swing over the ravine.'
Quickly followed by Thalmiir and William, who both fall down and have to climb their way back up to the battlefield.
Liya and I stand by to watch while trying to use some ranged attacks at the bulette.
It is at this point, where a sudden, strong impact pushes Erky to the brink of death, and with one final bite, it is actually over. With his legs nearly separated from his body, he is being dragged away, and only Ferrum is there to follow. This is an eerily familiar situation for me, and it sparks memories I do not wish to relive.
While I was stressing on the wrong side of the ravine, Thalmiir and Ferrum rescue Erky and revivify him. With a lot of thinking and creative use of ropes, we get them back to this side of the cliff and leave the caverns with some cut of parts from the bullette and a barely breathing Erky.
Mathilda looks kind of scared at us, but lets us pass and wishes us well.
We leave for the house of the Fila family. Where we are arriving unexpectedly early, according to our employer. With a smooth few words of William, our payment is raised with 50 percent and we all gain 1000gp(!) But we all decide to take some time off and unwind for a few days here in Conwy, Erky needs some time to heal physically, and some others mentally.
