The World of Aneirys

Welcome to the continent of Aneirys, and more specifically to the Kingdom of Acarius. Your journey will begin having seen your group spend almost two months together, employed as fresh recruits through the Adventurer's Guild in Halgen, during which time you would have trained together and gone on various minor expeditions into the God's Vault, led by a seasoned adventurer by the name of Shauren. Together, you've survived trials and tribulations brought about by both the dungeon itself and the political hellscape that is the guild, and your first session marks your final task before being granted the title of "Adventurer".

The "Where" of Acarius


The Kingdom of Acarius spans from just north of the equator to the southernmost reaches of the arctic circle, and is host to many biomes. Most of the people here are originally from vaults - massive underground facilities, built in an age long forgotten. Due to this common history, much of the world's racism falls silent in the Kingdom, aided in part by the belief that this is The Final Age. Though large in size, the kingdom is still relatively young at only 1,012 years of age. As a result, the Kingdom's population has grown quite rapidly, though the size of the lands allows for a less concentrated population.
Borders are almost entirely geographical for the Kingdom. The west is blocked by a seemingly unending line of mountains, known today as the Worldspire Mountains. The east is similarly blocked by The Frigid Channel, while the north is bordered by the arctic circle. The south, however, sees it's border as the line between The Steppes and the Barren Lands of the Tajir Mutaji, a vast desert of vaults and inhospitable conditions. What is our goal?


Much like my usual campaign style, your goal will most likely be an overarching theme rather than a straight line of accomplishments. Events will unfold in the world around you, and you may interact with them as you see fit. Moreover, you may influence the world directly through your actions. I will also be looking into things such as your character's personal stories, families, and friends to provide tasks with adequate motivation. And if you're looking for a "story break" and just want to smash some heads in, the God's Vault in Halgen offers a traditional dungeon-crawl that gains difficulty as you explore deeper.
 
"But what is the overarching theme of the campaign?" - You, probably
The true theme of the campaign is exploration. There is more to Aneirys than meets the eye, and the impassible borders of Acarius may not be as impossible to cross as they believe. You may also wish to try and discover what happened in previous ages, or what the end of this one really is. But as I said, everything is up to you. This isn't quite a "Sandbox" game in the strictest sense, as you will always have something you can do with events leading into one another to create larger plots and adventures, but unlike "Campaign" style play, you'll be able to pause your current quest/goal/adventure to pursue other things (barring a situation being quite pressing).
