The Straatos Republic
The Straatos Republic consists of the reformed government after the fall of the Straatan Empire. They maintain a small amount of territory on Olorin in the South East of Vinyamar, within the Three Sisters. Often known for its economic prowess, Straatos is also renowned for its wide and vast collection of arcane knowledge, some even boldly stating that Straatos can rival the mages of the Isle of Winds. The policies and influence that Straatos employs of Ardicil is wide and vast, often choosing to use coin and pen over sword and might. There can be found someone of Stratosi origin in every corner of the world, and the merchants are known for the blue sails they wield.
Structure
The Straatos republic is a loose connection of the varried cities, towns and villages located around Region of Straatos itself that have pledged themselves to the city-state in return for protection, economic oppurtunity, or access to the vast fleets of Straatos. At the head of the government are The Twelve, who rule from the city of Straatos itself. They are democratically elected, and the cities under Straatos such as Compita, Viterbo , Akros and more are all guaranteed a representative on the council.
Demography and Population
The Stratosi population is as vast and varied as that of Ardicil itself. No one is unwelcome in the economic center of Ardicil, and the demographics of the Republic represents that. Every race of Ardicil can be found in Straatos. The majority of the population, like much of the world is human. There are significant groups of halflings, gnomes, dwarves, and elves in Straatos as well. Smaller groups of the other races are also found around the Republic, either as isolated individuals, or forming small enclaves of their own.
Military
While not inclined to use their military very often, the strength of Straatos lies in its naval power. Arguably one of the strongest navies in the entire material plane, only the Great Rama Empire, Neldor Conclave and the Helspire Islands can possibly rival their power, but not its quantity. For the most part, the Stratosi Fleet is scattered and tasked with protecting its merchant empire from pirates and the various sea monsters that patrol the oceans, led by the former pirate himself Jack Luxford.
The Reverent Wardens are the ground arm of the military, and ruled by one of the Twelve, an elected representative who has usually spent great time in the military. They are busy mostly policing the region, and protecting it from the various monsters that arise from the Opal Bay or from other nefarious sources around the Three Sisters.
Religion
The religion in Straatos is just as diverse as its population, with representation of every god found within the diverse cities, towns and villages in the republic. The most popular gods in the republic are that of Akadi , and Tymora , both favoring the popular merchant class in Straatos. Certain towns are more inclined to lean towards one god or another, like Meletis and Akadi , or like Viterbo and their relationship with The Great Mother.
